The hotel's attractive restaurant fronts onto the street and offers carvery, fixed price, and pre-theatre meals, which are also popular with the locals. On the whole it's a good place to stay. City centre, university and stations are within a few minutes walking distance. But beware: Bathroom of room no. 222 was spacious and clean but not heatable and therefore cold. If your booking includes the continental breakfast don't bother to order the full English breakfast for an additional 10 pounds. Food quality and preparation don't justify the price. The sausages formed an insoluble compound with the plate and the provided forceps were too hot to handle.

Traffic noise early in the morning was high due to being next to the Bus and Rail Station. We were in a group of 4 couples, one of which asked to be moved due to the room being small and the noise from the pubs and clubs emptying at 2am. Overall our stay was good with a good atmosphere in the hotel public areas. We would stay again as overall it was good value, although I would request a room to the rear of the hotel.
