There was a strong draught passing through the room. Carpets on the steps and in the breakfast room are threadbared. The breakfast is very good!
2.9
The carpets in the communal areas are grim. The skirting boards are damaged with most of the paint scratched. Looking up at the walls and ceilings gives an equally depressing feeling. I understand that some of the rooms have been decorated recently, but the family room that we used had not and was again depressing. The mattress springs could be felt through the bed clothes and resulted in an uncomfortable sleeping experience. Granted, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was adequate, but the bulding needs a complete renovation

Excellent situated 2 minutes from King´s Cross! Perfect!

We were three friends who stayed at the hotel for four nights, had booked a room for three and although it wasn't spacious, it was clean and that counts for more. The reseptionist was a nice man, who helped us when we needed it (find a place to eat, book a cab, get extra blankets). The dining room/breakfast room was too small, only 4-5 tables, and we didn't eat breakfast there at all. We asked the woman in the kitchan if we could carry the breakfast upstairs to our room and bring down the empty plates afterwards, and she started yelling at us! Not the best of service there. All in all though, I would say it was good value, the hotel was a couple of minutes walk from King's Cross/St Pancras Station, and that was good.
9.3
Very Big and Full Breakfast ...
It is close Kings Cross Station. The location to the Tube and buses can't be any better. You can choose between Continental and English breakfast.Staff are very nice.

The only thing which was not so good was small room for breakfast because once we had to wait. But we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

IT WAS A NICE STAY

siamo stati 6 notti.
8.2
Small rooms (I was hardly there though). Very conveniently located near King's Cross. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was very good. Good value for the price. Quaint.
6.9
The hotel is very very clean (shared toilets and showers too) and the people who work there are very kind and organised, but sadly the noises of the traffic are easily hearable from the bedrooms, even with the windows closed. That is the only real bad thing about this hotel.
6.7
Everything was as I expected to be due to previous Web information, but, because of elderly property status, staff was instantly busy with some repair works, and in third day of our staying it made me feel a little bit nervous. Breakfast was good, a location near King's Cross tube station is very convinient , staff very welcoming. Willingly to add a little fridge in room's environment.
7.2
Very good impression on the staff, especially on the owner of the Hotel that helped me to have a wonderful stay in London.
8.1
7.6
Nice and helpful staff, quiet and near-central location near a variety of public transport options - two railway stations, multiple underground and bus lines. Our room was quiet and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The cleaning and kitchen staff were very competent and friendly - our beds were imppecably made every day, and the English breakfast was a substantial meal, although made with budget ingredients. A few minus points on the property, though; all the furniture and equipment - from toilets to TV - felt very old. The stairwell looked like it was about to collapse; the carpet was worn out. Everything works, but only just.
3.4
5.9
I think the accommodation is good value and the location is good but I thought the common areas and the bathrooms were not very clean. The showers did not work very well - too hot or too cold. Overall it is good value for money but I think the whole place could be freshened up a bit
me and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights in June. just like the most London accomodations this B&B was not so spacious, our room was quite tiny for the two of us with our baggages...but we enjoyed our staying there for the cleaness of the whoel structure and the excellent position, just next to the King's cross tube and train station. the only flaw was the breakfast in the mornign: the breakfast room in small, so sometimes you have to wait a little before you can sit, and the breakfast itself is not so extraordinary as the engliah breakfast can be... but i sincerely suggets this accomodation for the low prices and the good position.
9.2
We had a bedroom ground floor.Very good because we had heavy cases. Cheepest I found. Very near station Eurostar. The responsable is very kind I disponible. Keeps cases before chek-in. Very good for anyone just wants to sleep and wash.
8.6
The hotel was excellent for location: one block to the Underground station. Price was good for London. We opted for the en-suite bathroom, amazing how sink, toilet and shower fit into a small space The third bed was a bunk over the other two beds. Good breakfast in the morning to start the day. Overall we were satisfied and would return.
we enjoyed our staying in this Hotel. The location is very good because it is very close to the King Cross tube station (one of the best connected station of London). The room is not bad, I guess it is on average. It is difficult to find a cheap room in the zone 1 or 2.
8.3
It was exactly what we needed. Clean, nice, quiet, near the city and a very good price! I will return and also recommend you to my friends. This was my first visit in London, but not my last!
Our room (n°3) on ground floor was really excellent because it had been completely renovated and refurbished recently. It seemed that there were rooms in a poorer condition but we did never enter any. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay very much since the location is really central to explore London.
5.6
Please, put a top mattress on the bed!
This was my 5th time in London and since my stay was going to be just of 3 days I was looking for a hotel just to sleep at night. I was in a double room and I found this small and confortable hotel with a very good location because it's just a couple minutes walk from King's cross underground station and this is probably its best quality. The room was very small but quite clean even if a bit noisy at night. The bathroom was very small as well but since only some rooms are en suite, it was good anyway. No public areas, just a reception and a small breakfast room, but the personal is very kind and welcoming. Breakfast is included. This hotel is a very good choice if you need somewhere to sleep in London for just few days because it's quite cheap and clean and very close to the underground station.
Considering this hotel is in London, it has a good quality vs. price ratio. The room was clean, and not too small. The location is very good, with 6 undergound lines in the immediate surrounding. Just one flaw: the room was quite noisy, not due to the surrounding (very quiet), but due to noise coming from other rooms (mainly the vent in the bathroom of room next door, which was very disturbing at night and early morining).
5.3
Tiny rooms. Weak breakfast. Nice view over the square, if on the right side! Limited friendliness.
Good price, clean rooms, and close to undreground. Excellent service.
7.8
Very close to King's Cross Station, many bus to the centre (Trafalgar...). Small room but daily cleaned. They'll apply 5% if you pay by credit card, but it isn't expensive. Good accomodation.
The hotel is ok, location perfect close to underground, quite central. The surrounding is pretty calm however the walls between the rooms are so slim that you can hear your neighbours breathe (or doing anything else!) We couldn't sleep for entire nights! The bathroom piping is very noisy too (like a plane taking off when you flush the water!) Don't go there!
7.7
3.2
For me this is not a Hotel. It's an Hostal. The rooms very small (as usual in London). It's very noisy, you can ear all that happens in other rooms, and there are some pipes that make a terrible noise. The Breakfast it's great ant the location also....
We had a very nice Stay at the McDonalds. Friendly Staff, good Breakfast. We will come back. The only not so good Thing is the surrounding Area. Kings Cross/St Pancras is not a very nice Area to be. Luckily the Tube station is quiet close, so you can go nicer Parts of London.
I was in the hotel witch my two sons (12 and 15 years old) and therefore it was o.k., not too expensive and a good brekafeast.
Cheap and cheerful hotel, very good value for money in central London but it is basic, curtains could have done with linings as the street light shone in and there was a cold draught from the window, also the sheets and one blanket was only just big enough for the double bed, we should have asked for more blankets as we got cold.Good for underground and railway stations.
8.8
very good indeed
5.8
Bedroom comfortable and adequate, breakfast was just cooked breakfast and toast (no choice of cereals or anything). Bathroom facilities were inadequate and shabby - on first floor there were only 2 showers, one was out of service so it was very difficult to get a shower in the morning! Cheap and cheerful - don't expect quality at this price.
we had a very enjoyable stay in London at the MacDonald. The room was small but clean with en suite bathroom, and we only needed a warm shower and a bed to sleep, so it was ok. The breakfast is good. The position is really perfect, only few meters from King's Cross station. We could also leave our packages at the hotel the last day. So if we'll come back to London we will stay agin at the Mac Donald.
Very friendly & helpfull staff!
4.2
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any of my friends. Nor would I stay there again. The place need major renovations. The people don't speak good english though they are trying to be nice. The only good thing with this hotel is location, which is very close to King's Cross station.
6.5
Overall this is a good place for a short trip to London! The room is to small for a longer stay, but this does not matter for a few days journey. Service is ok and everything give the impression of a clean and nice place. Technically we found some annoying issues, like the bed (press board and an old useless spring mattress), shower (shower head defect and fossil) and water pipes (heavy beating each morning ...). In particular the last two should be no problem to be corrected (we live to see the owners themselves working on their house) and this would make a much better impression. The price is ok (for London), or a bit to high, thinking of the named problems. Not to forget: The location is perfect - just a two minutes walk to King's Cross / St. Pancras!
The Hotel was kind of pricy for the quality of service provided. There was no phone in the hotel room, and while the hotel was very close to King's Cross/St. Pancras train station for catching the tube, the hotel was not as near to Covent Garden as the advertisements suggested. Overall, the stay was mediocre.
The service of breakfats stops at 9h00 ; it is too early . 9h30 or 10h00 would be better .
5.7
Booked a triple room in this hotel and there was no notice that it would be a bunk bed. Not very comfortable if you have to climb up your bed after a day out in the city. Full English breakfast was provided (very good actually), staff was friendly and helpfull. Good location, King's Cross Station is just steps away. I would probably stay there again, but not with a party of three.
The staff was wonderfully welcoming, very friendly, very helpfull and sympathetic. Although the room was small and was a bit on the dingy side (for instance, a hole in the bedspread, clearly visible and the water cooker seemed out of service) this was made up by the cleanliness of the room. A strong remark has to be made, however, about the showers outside of the room. The shower cabin I had to use was not wholly up to modern standards (the other one being defect), the cold and the warm water not wishing to mix properly, so I either scorched my back or froze. On the other hand, when I mentioned this to one of the members of staff, they immediately fixed this the following morning. Overall, a good stay if your stay is not an extended one (I slept there for only two nights). Nice, cosy breakfast room, friendly housekeeping staff, good breakfast. I particularly loved the small decanter of cold milk served during breakfast and the generous bowls of jam and marmalade on the table.
4.5
Tiniest hotel I've ever stayed at in my life! We stayed in a double en suite room and we barely had 12 inches to walk around the bed. I had to put my suitcase up against the door, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to walk on the floor at all.The bathroom was so small, you literally can not have more than 1 person in it at a time, and we are small people! Thank goodness the ceilings were high otherwise we would have really gotten claustrophobic. There was a chunk of crown molding missing so that wasn't even nice to look at though. There was a child in the room above us and it sounded like a dinosaur thudding around. We might as well just stayed at a hostel and saved a little money. The good thing about the hotel was the breakfast-it was very good-full English breakfast with tea, coffee, beans, sausage, bacon (which is like a big slab of ham), eggs, and toast. The people were also pleasant.
A well-worn bed and breakfast run by friendly staff very close to the Kings Cross Train station.
when we come back to london, we'll certainly stay at this hotel.... +++
8.7
I stayed with my husband and daughter 4 days in London for holidays and I found Mac Donald hotel a very nice accomodation; even if rooms are very little I would recommend since it is very clean, breakfast is complete and good and hotel is near tube station.
4.8
very expensive (pretty common in London unfortunatly), but very well located. Room is not really quiet, neither spacious, but the breakfast is wonderfull !
My husband and I stayed at the MacDonald over Christmas 2006. The hotel is run by a pleasant Maltese family. Our room was small - infinitesimal is a better word. We were given a choice between an English or continental breakfast and selected the former. What a great surprise! Egg, bacon, sausage, toast, baked beans, juice and a pot of coffee, all excellent. This more than made up for any shortcomings in the room. From the MacDonald all of London is easy to reach by the underground. Eating possibilities in the immediate area are rather restricted, but as noted, going elsewhere is no problem. Just don't be there on Christmas day, as we were - absolutely NO buses or underground and virtually every restaurant was closed.
MacDonald is overall good value for the money. London is an expensive city and MacDonald provides a good base for people who wants to stay in the city centre to a reasonable price. However, the walls into my room were quite thin so I could hear other people's tv, which was annoying at times. Breakfast was fine, staff friendly and helpful.
The personal of the hotel is very friendly. In the venere-website was written that you can pay with VISA. But then you have to pay 5% plus. This must be written in the venere-website!! The hotel is very near to King's Cross and for that it was quite quiet.
9.0
This hotel provided a cheap, comfortable stay in a single room which was convenient for central London.
8.0
Excellent location, nice staff and good breakfast. The room is quite small but fine for us. The door of the shower room really needed to be repaired since it made noise during midnights and mornings.
The place is very near to the underground and buses station. The room was cleaned and the towels changed every day. With a breakfast like that, you can avoid the lunch, and if you want something else, you have no problem. Very good also for family.
6.4
The location with underground and railway station very close, still with an affordable price makes Macdonald a good choice. The room was small but clean.
It was my first time at MacDonald and I wasn´t disappointed. It could have been quieter - at night it was sometimes very noisy on the street or in the park.payment with visa would have been more expensive (5%)wich was surprising to me.other than that my stay there was very ok.the closeness to king´s cross was very convenient.
Yo he estado muy a gusto y pienso volver.
Si te gusta pasear puedes ir andando a muchos sitios. Si no tienes varias paradas de metro y autobus cerca.
The perfect hotel (quite area near king's kross) to visit London in a cheep & cool way!!

Stanze ridotte rispetto a standard europeo. Era poi indicato in fondo in un precedente feed-back. Roberto Pepe
The best place to stay for the best price!! When we'll come back to London I hope for a sale :) there...Thank you so much for all.
Servicio agradable y atento (no hablan castellano).
friendly atmosphere - very small room, the bed was narrow and to short - after flushing the toilet it took up to half an hour until the water container was refilled

The hotel is very simple but clean and people were very kind. A very good choice!

This was a good choice for staying in London. I have rated price/quality as not so great since that is typical of London, which is very expensive. The location is good and much quieter than I expected given how close to major transportation facilities. A good location, especially for visiting the British Museum. Paul, the host, was very gracious, even offering to lend me money since I had old expired bills. Rooms generally clean although my daughter was freaked out by finding a silverfish. Bathrooms etc. clean enough but worn.
Very good place to stay for one week-end (my experience): near of covent garden, soho, picadilly (around 30 minutes walking). Not expensive. Clean and quiet aera. If i come back again in london, i would go there once again.

My venere password, which contains the words 'glum' and 'cube', should have been a tip-off. The building is crumbling and, while the staff do their best to keep things clean, carpets are badly stained, the stairwell is canted, the bannisters held together with tape, the showers airless, the paint peeling. I had occasion to go into the kitchen and laundry, which were literally falling apart. The breakfast room, in the basement, is tiny and cramped; we ate in our room after the first day. The staff were very accommodating about that, lending us a tea pot, plates and tableware so we could break our fast in style. They also cleaned the rooms and changed the towels every day. They work hard. It looks as if the owners are trying to renovate a little bit at a time, though not to a very high standard. The price, like everything else these days, is high for what you get. On the other hand, the location can't be beat, especially if you're working in the British Library. King's Cross no longer feels all that safe, but that's hardly the fault of the MacDonald Hotel. So if you're prepared for its general seediness (which we were not), the MacDonald Hotel is not a disaster.
Although the first look at the room raised some desappointment, the hotel is really clean and quite, and just look a bit old (at least in the room number 4). Perfectly situated close to King Cross Station, it allows easy moves over all central london trough the tube or bus lines. Personnal is efficient and sympathical and the breakfast were nice. Thus, is the weather is good enough to let you move in thecity, this B&B is a really graet deal for short term visit in London.
Although the room was well located and easy to find, the room was very small and noisy. The bathroom in poor condition was shared with 6 rooms instead of 4 as indicated in the hotel description. Only one towel was provided.
Although clean and friendly, the facility is in poor repair--furnace tape holds the railings together.

perhaps it is true that the prices only have to correspond with the quality. so we shouldn’t have expected too much. but what we found was definitely beneath our expectations. there was no room to feel comfortable at all. not as a couple. uncomfortable beds causing headaches, dripping dirty shower, dirty toilet... i´ve been travelling a lot and this was the worst b&b i´ve ever been to. breakfast was nice but not enough. the employees were very nice though. nevertheless, do yourself a favour and try a little harder to find accomodation.

the room was clean if small and the manager welcoming and helpful. However, the building is in need of significant repairs and the bathrooms were very basic. The breakfast was adequate but could have been more ample. Various types of cereal could be offered and tomatoes instead of the baked beans, which I can't face early in the morning.

Ruhiges Umfeld. Für einen Kurztrip Preis/Leistung OK
