This charming hotel is well served by the public transport system, being the airport and the bus station both within close proximity. Moreover, the property is indeed an ideal base from which to explore major tourist attractions such as the Golden Triangle (where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet) and the Temples, which are only a two-hour drive away. The Laluna Hotel and Resort offers comfortable accommodation in modern Thai-style bungalows, a fancy restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a travel agency, an Internet Point and above all, quiet and attentive service.

At US$40 per night for the room, this was an excellent value hotel. The rooms were spacious but nothing amazing, however the gardens were beautiful and the pool was fantastic. The only drawback to this hotel is that it is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Chiang Rai.

This hotel could be so good but... We arrived to find only a couple of bell boys running reception so had a luke warm welcome (not the normal Siam smiles)and they were a bit clueless. We had booked a triple room which was 2 twin beds and a mattress on the floor for the 3rd bed. Given how cold it is at night this is not satisfactory. The rooms didn't seem finished off , eg no hooks in the bathroom. The security boxes were in lockers near reception but not in sight of reception which seemed odd. The pool is lovely but is not attended so to order a drink you use a phone and eventually it is sorted out. A pool attendeant for a few hours late afternoon when it is busy would make sense. The breakfast is very poor. Coffee in an urn tastes as if it has been going for days. Even an hour before breakfast ends they don't reset the tables or replace the terrines that are empty. The restaurant is very expensive and slow. When we ordered a taxi to leave for the airport -payment to hotel- they sent the smallest of cars and it was not an official taxi. When I complained as we really struggled to fit into it they just shrugged their shoulders. The cleaning staff seem to be self employed and they also look unhappy. Finally seeing 3 fat Farangs having Thia massages on beds on poolside was revolting. We had a lovely week in Thailand but did not enjoy our time at this hotel.

I cancelled my reservation to a week, but I paid all the price of this reservation !!!!! 300 USD for a room to a week that I don't used !!! I am sorry, but Its a rob !!!
