we are not happy at all.we expected a lot more based on what we paid.
2.1
We are normally loathe to criticise accomodation, but in this case the Beacon Inn did not live up to our expectations based on the price we had to pay (about $200 night). we stayed in other accomodation during the same week including the John Hancock and Hereford Street Apartments which cost the samoe or less than the Beacon Inn and were much more convenient for the city. The room we had (Harvard) was on the 3rd floor and in the attic space. Some people may find this charming but we found it extremely cramped with an old radiator which was particularly grotty. Other reviews mention the lack of anywhere to eat breakfast other than your room if you wish to carry it up 3 flights of stairs. The reception area in the downstairs hall could be much improved by simply hiding all the breakfast things behind a screen. It made the place look like the staff room in the back of business premises. Overall the place was ok if you are there for 1 or 2 nights, but thre are other places in Boston at the same or lower prices which are significantly better located (it took us 35 mins on the T to get into town at 9.30 am.) The Venere descripion of 'deluxe double' was rather stretching the imagination as far as our particular room was concerned - conclusion, shop around.

The place was dirty. The A/C rattled. I could hear the people in the room next to mine. It is far from everything (but there are two Metro lines very close by). The staff (of one) was out from 5 PM to 8:30 the next day.

There are two adresses, and no sign outside! I lost a lot of time in the cab trying to find the place. There is a train that passes in front of the room from 6 am until 1 am.

Nice location. But room was a bit cold and noisy because of the window that couldn't properly be closed.

the hotel is nice, but far from the downtown. When I read about it and looked at the map, I thought it was near Back Bay and Beacon Hill but it wasn't. You have to drive for at least 10 minutes and to loose other 15/20 minutes to find a parking!
