It was a great base for exploring Rome. The location was central to everything but particularly easy to get to the Vatican.

Notre séjour à Rome fut excellent en grande partie grâce à Giuseppe qui a sut nous accueillir et nous guider tout au long de notre séjour. Our stay in Rome was excellent due to Guiseppe who guide and advise us about where to eat and what to visit on each day ! The BB is very well placed and we have never taken a Bus or Subway. All our visit was done by walking. Just near the BB you have many restaurant and the Vatican is about 5 mn walking ! It is a very fantastic place and I have recommand to all my friends and familly.

Giuseppe met us and had a map that he put places of interest on and suggested restaurants. He was very knowledgable and happy to help in any way he could. He does not live there. The room was clean, roomy and homey. The only thing was the bathroom was private but down the hall so you need to take a housecoat. Central location - everything was walkable. The only drawback was the noise from the street but it didn't bother us. You had to make your own breakfast but there was lots to choose from. He had a well stocked frig and bread was fresh daily.

We were a little aprehensive to stay at a b & b in Rome but were so pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Our host was excellent and gave us some really great local information and even advised us on the order in which we should see the many sights of Rome which worked perfectly for us. We will definately return to Surprising in Rome next time we visit!!

Great place, especially for the price! Beds were comfortable, service was friendly, location is excellent for tourists. There was a bit of a language barrier (only Guiseppe speaks English, and not perfectly) but we got through alright. It was peaceful and nice (with earplugs and the window shut tight!)
9.7
This is an excellent place to stay if you want to be in the centre, within walking distance of all the sights. Brilliant if travelling with another couple as we did. It was just like having your own appartment. It was noisy but this was explained to us before we booked, ear plugs provided and to be honest it did not bother us at all. Guiseppe was a great host and gave great advise. We will definitely return there next time we're in Rome
Great bed and breakfast in an ideal location. A short walk away from all of the major attractions.

This is wonderful B&B with well decorated, spacious, clean bedrooms (one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in), and marble bathrooms. Guiseppe is a FANTASTIC host, he greeted us with a bottle of wine and sat down with us to map out walking tours, great restaurant suggestions, and unique spots to experience traditional Rome, all catered to our preferences and intentions for the weekend. He provided an excellent breakfast laid out with many options, and kept fresh bread, cheese, and meats for our afternoon snack. The view of the street from the 4th floor room is great and the location is prime! The bus to the train station stops directly in front of the building, but besides heading to/from the airport we never needed transportation. The B&B is centrally located (seriously about a 15/20 min walk everywhere) to the can't miss sights (Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi, Spanish Steps, the Vatican, the Roman Forum/Colluseum, Trastevere, Tiber River) and great side streets with small, authentic restaurants and shops. It is just steps from Campo De Fiori which was our favorite Piazza to end the night- lots of restaurants and cafes with all the locals. We went just for a quick weekend trip, and I am convinced our wonderful time was made possible by Guiseppe! We would not even consider staying somewhere else next time in Rome. Price is also very reasonable considering all of the conveniences and attention you receive. By the end of the weekend we were ready to move in!

A very well situated B&B where we were very well taken care of by Giuseppe. Already before we started our trip to Romhe informed us, by mail, about the best and cheepest way to get to the hotel. At the arrival made us feel very welcome and gave us a lot of useful information regarding restaurants, bars, sight-seeing and shopping. In short terms: It was a super-stay!

Excellent Choice! It was our first trip to Rome, Giuseppe and Sabrina were very helpful with tourist information. Excellent location near all important monuments. Great breakfast. The rooms face a noisy street but they give you earplugs. We would certainly stay there next time we are in Rome!!!
8.1
Very well located, perfect for visiting Roma. Nice rooms, beautiful furnitures, excellent breakfast. The only problem is the noise despite the double windows. But it is standable.
Terrific location with very large room. B&B only has two rooms available making service very personalized. You feel you're sharing an apartment with the friendly owner, Giuseppe, who is eager to provide helpful tips and assist with museum and other reservations. Large bathroom is down the hall, but each room has their own private one. A substantial and excellent variety of food for breakfast, including eggs, cereal, fruit, cheeses, meat, juice, coffee and fantastic country bread. The rooms face a noisy street, but I wasn't bothered and my companion was Ok with earplugs. Less privacy than a traditional hotel, but we thought the extra space and being able to interact with a real Roman was well worth the tradeoff.
8.6
Great location, great value for money. Giuseppe was very hospitable and helpful and provided lots of useful information. The room was large and comfortable and so was the bathroom. There is a washing machine and even a microwave for guests to use. The B&B is on the 4th floor of a building, but there is a lift, (although quite tiny). The breakfast offered good choice of food. There is a supermarket next door and the bus stop is only few meters from the building. Even with the shutters closed, the room was a bit noisy since it overlooks one of the main streets in Rome. However, this wasn't a major concern and the location of the B&B more than compensated for it. The only criticism we have is that towels and bedlinen could've been changed more often (unless there was an expectation that we will wash them ourselves?). Overall, the facilities and the service were very good and we'd have no hesitation to recommend this property to other travellers. We will certainly stay there next time we're in Rome.
You cannot find a better location to visit all of the top spots in Rome. Giuseppe & Sabrina are delightful and very helpful. When you arrive, Giuseppe will sit down with you and recommend the best ways to get from point to point on foot as well as the best places to eat. Trust him, his regular job a host at a restaurant so he knows his food. What's more is that included in your stay is a full breakfast with cereal, milk, juice, fresh cooked scrambled eggs with Parmesan cheese, salami, cheeses, fruit, coffee, tea, and other foods. Also the price pretty much includes your water and everything else. They don't try to nickel and dime you like most hotels. Sabrina even did laundry for us and hung it on the roof to dry for us. She let us up on the roof to enjoy the view of Rome at night...a feast for the eyes and ears. This is not like staying in a hotel or anything like that. You are actually living in a Giuseppe & Sabrina's home (which is a very nice place). We had our own private bathroom that was gorgeous (covered in white and black marble) and the room was very nice, outfitted with a very comfortable stylish Italian bed surrounded by antique dressers, desks, doors and everything else. Like I said, the location is perfect...about 10-15 minute leisurely walk to the Vatican in one direction. The other direction leads you to Piazza Nuova, the Pantheon (Rotunda), Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. If the weather is too hot, jump on the bus, you'll be just about anywhere in a few minutes. Ask Giuseppe about Antica Taverna near the B&B. Once you get there, order the Spaghetti Amatriciana and enjoy. Eat each individual strand slowly and savor the taste...I miss it already! The only minus is the street noise. It really didn't bother us, but it is a factor. Giuseppe and Sabrina know about this and provide earplugs which do the trick. I would say it's not even a concern and I would not hesitate to return to live with them again.

Welcoming, ready to help and good breakfast.
Great location, great service! Clean rooms and facilities. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Rome. Noise was never really a factor for us as was commented in other peoples' statements. Great breakfast also. Stand up owner and a good guy.
As it was our first visit to Rome, we wanted to be at the heart of the city. The "Surprising In Rome" is ideally situated and within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see. As it is on the main road, some noise is to be expected, but it didn't disturb us at all. Hospitality is outstanding. We look forward to visiting Rome again and wouldn't look to stay anywhere else.

We spent 3 days in Rome, every morning a different wake up hour, but our guests always cooked a delicious and very generous breakfast! this was very important for us and really appreciated! :) the only suggestion we can do is this: make available a TV in the rooms. Even if, you know, when you come to Rome, you don't have actually so much time to spent in front of a tv...
Recomendable.

Bed & Breakfast Surprising in Rome was very well located to all the main tourist attractions. The accommodation was ok, the room was extremely noisey and the owner didnt have great English. They were very friendly and helpful though.
The owners took the extra steps to help us try to find lost luggage. They were great. Place was located within walking distance of everything particularly the Vatican, Roman ruins, Piazza Navona, Pantheon. It was wonderful and we would stay there again in a minute.
4.5
The owners are very friendly and willing to help arrange transportation, museum reservations, etc. The location is great for walking around the Vatican and the Ancient City. Our stay here was miserable, however, due to the noise from the streets. Also, the bathroom is small and near the kitchen so don't expect much privacy.
Very good location, very clean and great breakfast prepared by Giuseppe.
We really enjoyed our stay at Surprising in Rome. They were very helpful and accommodating and the bedroom and breakfast room were nicely decorated and very comfortable. You have your own bathroom but it is not ensuite, something we did not expect. The breakfast is the best we had in Italy. Ear plugs are a must until guiseppie sorts out his new windows. It's on the 4th floor but on a busy road. Wouldn't have traded the location though. Thanks again!

The spacious and nicely decorated room with private marble bathroom is placed in a huge 19th century city palace. You just choose your time for breakfast and can choose from a variety of offerings, from tea, coffee, juice, brioches, fruit, bread, cheese, sausages etc. If you need assistance to plan your sightseeing tour the owner is more than pleased to help you. Every major attractions, from Vatican to the historic centre are in walking distance. And there are a number of nice bars and restaurants for the evenings as well. If you arrive at Stazione Termini, there's a direct bus to the place: # 64. I can only recommend to stay at Surprising in Rome B&B. The only negative thing is that Corso Vittorio Emmanuele is one the major traffic routes through the city centre. So bring your ear plugs and keep the windows shut at night.
8.4
Very friendly and clean. Excellent location - all attractions within walking distance. Superb breakfast and very helpful with directions, queries etc. Bathroom/shower is down hallway. Only drawback is the noise from the main road - if you're a light sleeper - take ear plugs!
7.8
Giuseppe & Sabrina were so welcoming, and their homemade breakfast was a feast! He even made a great pasta lunch for us before we left. Note: there is a private bathroom, but it's down the hall. Earplugs are needed, as there's heavy traffic outside all hours of the night.

My wife and I had a great time here. Excellent location where you can walk to everything. Safe and well lit area for walking at night. The breakfasts were very good. " Sabrina you did very good on breakfasts too " They were very helpful on tourist information Resturants, what to do in the area, calling a cab for us. We would stay here again. Thankyou very much for a great time !!! Greg and Mary USA

A 3-star hotel with bathroom en suite, full breakfast, daily maid service, and in historic center on quiet street was 10% less. Price did not reflect low season/high availability. Description does not make clear that bathroom is down hall; picture of bathroom shows bathtub, but one bathroom is only shower. Bedroom is on VERY noisy street.
We had travelled for 24 hours to get to Rome and were grateful for the warm welcome and great room. There is some street noise from traffic but really in Italy you have to expect that everywhere. It did not bother us as we were dead tired each day after walking a long way. It is in a great location - walking distance to the Vatican and other great sites. It is a great and affordable place to stay. Please try it.

It has been as being in a friend's house more than in a hote !! Very well located. Welcoming very, very friendly. And breakfast for Cesar's. In some years, there will be another more typical thing to do in Rome: To begin the day with a good breakfast: The scrambled eggs of Giuseppe
Joseph was a wonderful host! The best breakfast on our trip to Italy! We would stay here a gain in a heartbeat. Very nice bathrooms. everything was clean. He even let us use his computer so my husband could check e-mail, and helped us by calling and arranging delivery of an important item we left at our hotel in Florence. Thanks!

An excellent location for exploring Rome and less than 10 mins walk to Vatican City. Giuseppe (the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful. My only warning would be that Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is a very busy road and therefore this isn't the quietest location.
my friend and i really enjoyed staying with guiseppe and sabrina. they made an amazing breakfast for us and discussed our plans for our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. they gave us directions, recommendations for shops and restaurants, and made sure we had a cab to the airport. the room was huge compared to all the other places i've stayed in europe. there is no doubt in my mind that i would stay here again. besides the accomodation, guiseppe and sabrina are friendly; we talked about fashion and work and even shoes! surprising in rome is delightful :)
We had a wonderful stay. It was very affordable and in a great location. We would definitely stay there again.
We really enjoyed staying at Surprising in Rome. We were on honeymoon and this was our first trip to Italy, but they told us a lot of things to do, good restaurants, good wines to buy and etc. We were supposed to arrive by 9pm but because of flight delay we arrived there at 3 in the morning. They still gave us a warm welcome like he gave us fruits and even a grass of wine that tasted really good. They were so nice to us and we even missed him during the rest of the trip in other cities. I would like to come back there next time and I recommend this place to my friends.
The rooms are really spacious, the price is really reasonable, the person in charge in really friendly and the location is really hard to beat!
Surprising in Rome is an excellent place to stay in Rome. It is located so near from Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiori and Sant Peter that you con go walking everywhere. Giusseppe es friendly and very helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean and very beautiful. We loved our holidays in Rome in such a good B&B.
