super time!

We stayed for 3 nights in June. The location is amazing, very central to everything! The hotel staff were really helpfull and friendly. Room was a bit small but with a good size bathroom, we didn't find this a problem though as we didn't come to Rome to stay in the hotel all day! Our aircon leaked water when turned on, luckily it wasn't too hot during our stay. Be warned that breakfast is not in the hotel but across the square in a cafe. The service there is fine although we didn't find them too friendly. The only let down was the smell of stale fags on the stairs. Overall a nice hotel and a great location!

I am a frequent traveller to Rome and have stayed at many different and excellent hotels, but the Abruzzi is my favorite due to its perfect location in front of the Pantheon. Few pleasures can match that of waking up with a view of the Pantheon and taking the short stroll across the piazza for breakfast at the Rienzi. Although the rooms are quite small, they are adequate. Will stay there again.
5.7
Good location but dont rent a car! There are not any parkings round there! They started some repears with a lot of sound at 7 am. Terrible! And everything is small! Stairs so narrow it is problem to pull a suitcase. There are no reception - at all. No halls. In the room you can just stay or lie on the bed. No space for second suitcase.
5.2
Abruzzi is an exellent location. It is narrow inside the hotel. We got an ekstra bed in a dobbel room and it became too narrow.
9.5
The stay was wonderful, staff very gracious, we arrived hours early and they welcomed us immediately, the property is cramped but well maintained, the piazza is busy, as expected, opens out to the Pantheon, and 100 meters away in another church is a Michelangelo statue.
6.7
Hotel Abruzzi is fantastic for it's location - right outside the Pantheon. I had a room that overlooked the Piazza - absolutely gorgeous. Drawbacks with this property include: 1. The rooms are quite small but expected considering the location 2. The elevator starts on level 1, so you have to try and navigate your luggage up two flights of stairs 3. Although my room overlooked the Pantheon, I could not get the main window open, so had to enjoy the view from my bathroom Overall, a fantastic hotel for exploring room due to it's location.
8.5
An absolute gem of a hotel. We opended our windows to look out at the Pantheon, lit up on a summer night, and the busy Piazza below buzzing with people. The location of this hotel is amazing...everything is within easy (and wonderfully inspiring) walking distance. THere are beautiful restaurants in the immediate area (Maccheroni - is a must!). Only ther Vatican city is too far to walk though this depends on whether you like walking? The room itself was clean and tidy and the service was very efficient. It wasn't the biggest of rooms but perfectly adaquate for a three night stay. THe Bathroom was clean and again looked out over the Pantheon, (shower only). The only criticism I have is that it is noisy. The Piazza is throbbing with tourists until one maybe two O clock, and as the air conditioning wasn't working we had to leave the window open...at first the babble of Italian voices is rather nice to fall asleep to, but on Saturday night there were several 'shouters' who kept us awake. Having said that, with the wiondows closed it was quiet enough to sleep but a bit stuffy. Breakfast was a bit poor, you have to go to a lovely cafe in the piazza (which is great) but you get one coffee and one croissant/pastry...anything else has to be paid for as extra...a juice would have been nice or maybe a free top up of coffee? I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a basic clean room in the heart of old Rome as a base to explore the Major sites.
7.4
The Abruzzi is in an excellent location, but does suffer a little because of that. Our rooms overlooked the Pantheon (which is great) but the Piazza della Rotonda has a lot of bars and cafes so it is very noisy at night and into the morning. Also the lift on starts at the 1st floor which would be a struggle if you had a lot of luggage or small children. Having said that I would certainly go back there again as the staff were helpful and the location is great and that's all I want from a hotel.
8.7
We were delighted with the hotel. It was a perfect location to end our Italian holiday on a high note. The view of the Pantheon was incredible, as if you could reach out and touch it. The location was very convenient, we walked everywhere - about half and hour (max) to the Vatican, the Coliseum and Forum and Trastevere, 10/15 minutes to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, 5 minutes to Piazza Navona. We loved having breakfast in the piazza and enjoyed watching the activity there from our room. It was quiet at night though, with the double glazing. Easy to just walk out to eat or just wander, nice not to need any transport. The staff were very friendly, we would definitely stay there again.
8.1
marvellous location, nice service. We are happy to refer this hotel to our friends (already done). In Nordic taste (we are from Finland) the breakfast offered was maybe too light
Breakfast was the poorest thing in Abruzzi. Only coffee and croissant. Location is super!
6.9
The location is really great in walking distance from everywhere. Rooms are quite small but are very adequate. All the tourist attractions are within a quick walk and you can't beat the view of the Panthenon out your front window. Good value for money overall.
8.0
The location of the Hotel is excellent, oppositte the Pantheon and in a square with good restaurants surrounding. We were within walking distances of all the attractions we wanted to visit. Overall excellent.
7.1
Location is perfect, but the room was really small and - when ours was situated just opposite to the stairway - also very noisy. I´m sure you could find some more value for your money
8.9
The hotel itself was old and the rooms needed work but the location was fantastic. The room seemed to fit the location. The employees were always there to help. We loved it and would stay there again in a minute.
9.8
Hotel Abruzzi was a great start to our trip in Rome. The location couldn't have been much better, sharing the same piazza with the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain just a few minutes walk away. The other sites of Rome were fairly close also, Abruzzi was about the same distance from the Forum and the Vatican. The room was nice, although the shower "curtain" needed some attention. Eventhough our room was overlooking the piazza, the double pane windows cut out all the noise from below and the room was nice and quiet at night or while napping during the day. We were thankful that the room was air conditioned, especially since there was a heat wave through Italy at that time. There are so many little restaurants nearby it was very hard to choose, the food is very good at all of them, but the closer to any piazza the more they charge. So if you are looking for a quiet meal, explore down a side street and try one of the places that catch your eye. We would stay here again on our next visit to Rome.
9.9
We had a fantastic 3 nights at this hotel. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the location was the best. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay here on my next visit to Rome.
9.7
We loved staying here. The views from our room were extraordinary, and even though the piazza was noisy, we liked the experience of hearing the music and crowds. The noise ended by midnight, so we considered it part of our Roman stay. The desk attendant at Abruzzi was the most helpful man we met at any Italian stops. He also spoke perfect English, which we didn't expect but appreciated. We would stay here again in a flash. The only drawback was that when we crossed the piazza to the breakfast restaurant, we had a bad experience with the pricing. We didn't learn -- until the check arrived -- that we would be charged 4 Euros each for a cup of coffee!!! We wouldn't pay that anywhere, and felt very cheated by the restaurant. Even in Rome, that's way too expensive. The hotel might have told us that breakfast, which was included in the price, strictly followed rolls and ONE cup of coffee, and that our cash would be better spent going to another nearby, and less traveler-exploitive, cafe in the square. There was an electric kettle in the room, which was nice. And we might have even opted for the instant coffee offered there had we known about the cost at the breakfast cafe.
8.4
The location is really great in walking distance from everywhere. Rooms are quite small but are very adequate. I recommend that if you are coming from de vinci airport get the train to trastvere rather then central station and get the no 8 tram which will leave you in walking distance of the hotel.
We stayed two nights at the Abruzzi and loved it. Our room had a view of the Pantheon. Since it was off season, we were given passes to a neighboring restaurant on the piazza in front of the Pantheon for breakfast which was a nice touch. The location is fantastic and for a three star hotel we found the price to be fine, as we found in Rome you get what you pay for. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would absolutely stay there again.
6.4
In general me and my wife we think very positively about the Abruzzi Hotel, its location, and services. The TV system was very poor. I don´t understand why Abruzzi insisted to keep the Invoice Original Document, because it is normal that the Original is to customer / cliente.
9.2
Hotel Abruzzi is an excellent place to stay. All the tourist attractions are within a quick walk and you can't beat the view of the Panthenon out your front window. Rooms are clean and spacious, but the staff don't speak much English and it can be a little off putting. Overall, we loved our stay. Much better to be in the thick of things than off in the boonies somewhere. Taxis in rome are VERY expensive, and buses are hard to figure out. Save yourself the bother of either, pay a little extra, and stay at the Abruzzi.
5.4
I was under the impression that all the rooms were view rooms, which is the only reason I booked the room. This is clearly not the case. I would have never spent that much money on a room in Rome had I known. I have been to several other hotels in Rome both on previous and subsequent trips and spent half as much for similar quality. It was to be a special treat for me to have a view of the pantheon for my first night in Rome, which turned out to not be the case. I was too tired from travel to fight this, which made me feel taken advantage of as a solo traveller. The breakfast voucher for the cafe' was nice, but the voucher was not good for their featured tourist breakfast, but only a croissant and one fill up of coffee. It was tasty, but stingy. Won't stay there again!
The location of the Hotel Abruzzi is amazing! Look out the window and the Pantheon is right in front of you and fills the entire view. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was quite nice with a minibar, coffee and tea in the room, free b-fast at a cafe on the Pantheon square. A few rough edges that could be improved. There are no english channels on the TV. I find this surprising because most other Italian hotels have BBC and CNN in english. The beds were very firm (foam mattresses), but they seemed to soften a bit with use. There is a lift, but it starts on the first floor which is up a long narrow flight of stairs. A good restaurant is right by the hotel. It's called the Marcus Agrippa and has patio tables right on the square. Final note; we toured all over Rome, Florence and Venice, you will not find a hotel with this kind of view and location at this price anywhere else in these cities. If your budget can handle the rates here then you will be pleased with this hotel. You can stay here and tour all of Rome within 1 mile walk from the hotel.
4.6
Very noisy, broken toilet seat, breakfast was a joke! Would not recommend it.
8.8
We spent a fantastic time....the place spectacular.....the price affordable. But take notice that the elevator is in teh first floor and for breakfast you have to go round the corner to a Cafe by Piazza de la Rotonda..that is not bad at all !!!!
Can't beat the location of the Abruzzi, and with a view of the Pantheon from our window making this a special experience. Room was a good size for our stay, and the room facilities were also good. Not much in the way of other guest facilities though - although we wouldn't have used them anyway as the location meant we were close to everything. Good value for money overall.
The location is situated perfectly in the center of everything of this spendid city.
9.0
The Abruzzi hotel is a very clean hotel with rooms over looking the pantheon. It is a bit small so if you plan spending more time in your room then maybe it's not the best option. I was there with my girlfriend to see the sights and it was excellent because of the central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All the major sites were within walking distance. I would stay there again for a sight seeing trip but the rooms were a bit small for couples on a honeymoon etc.
Wonderful room to be introduced to Roma. Thankyou
5.9
LA PRIMA COLAZIONE è FUORI DALL'HOTEL. LO SPAZIO COMUNE è INESISTENTE. ENTRAMBI NON SONO SPECIFICATI NELL'OFFERTA E NEL SITO.
4.2
their is no left between reception and first floor and a reluctance to help with suitcases- for disabled people it would be impossible.Work was ongoing in the hotel and for 2 days we had no hot water- and were fobbed off with excuses- with manager avoiding us and making only a small offer of reduction. It was expensive for the level of quality- I would not rate it as 3 star- however in an excellent location.
La stanza singola è minuscola. Insonorizzazione dei muri inesistente. Rimane ottima la localizzazione nel cuore del centro di Roma.
We stayed here because we had only one night in Rome and wanted to be in this area. Room 404 was as much as we could have expected. It justified the price, and the front desk was very helpful to us.
9.4
What a great location. You can't beat it. To look out your room and see the Pantheon and the square, it is almost not real. Great cafes and people watching right outside your hotel.
This was one of my the most pleasant stays in Rome. The booking was easy, the information correct adn right to the point. The facility is very neat, clean, and personnel is helpful. It is nice there is no requirement to prepay the whole stay. This allows to make changes rather easy. I already used Venere.com to book lodging for my two upcoming trips.
I dont know about the price/quality because I live in Argentina, and the prices are others, but for Eorope I think the relationdhip is normsl.
We stayed at the Abruzzi hotel 5 years ago and this stay refreshed and exceeded our wonderful memories. The location is central and the intimate view of the Pantheon should not be missed...not everyone can see the grass growing on its roof!
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and the location is perfect. The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that the noise from La piazza della Rotonda can be disturbing at night.
Because of it's great location, we have stayed at the Abruzzi several times. I doubt we will be able to again. The price of a simple room has doubled since the introduction of the euro and is no longer the combination of location and value it once was.
We have been in Rome several times and the location of Abruzzo is the best! And prices in center of Rome are high.
The room had been refurbished to a good standard, the location was ideal and the staff frienly and helpful. The transfer from the hotel was quick and efficient but some 10 euros more than transfers offered by similar hotels. Our return transfer cost 35 euros but it was via a mini-bus. Overall we would gladly recommend the hotel
Despite building refurbishment continuing this did not prevent our enjoyment of the accommodation ( other then the lift not working when we arrived!)simple but very pleasant room; small but excellent shower room.Wonderful view of the Pantheon from the window and the lovely square below- who could ask for a better location. We walked almost everywhere although it is a fair walk to St Peters. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and shops in the area and the Piazz Novona is close. I would recommend this to anyone.
I'd strongly recommend the Abruzzi for a number of reasons. The location is perfect. Our room (406) had a sensational view of the Piazza below. The price was very fair. The room was spacious with a decent sized bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. Our room was only recently refurbished and still felt 'brand new'. We had air-con which was virtually silent. The only slight problem is that the lift only leaves from the first floor (second U.S. floor) going up.
Amazing location, very clean rooms and a warm Italian welcome!
7.8
The location of Abruzzi is the best thing about the hotel. Our room had a beautiful view of the pantheon and it was convenient to walk to all the major sites. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious, and included a refridgerated honor bar and hair dryer. The down side- the bed was very hard and somewhat uncomfortable (we were so tired it didn't matter much), no breakfast (not a problem for me), and they only take cash. This was a big deal for me- we didn't have cash and ATM machines only let you take out so much each day. I had to advance on my credit card which resulted in a $25 fee (and could have been much more). If they had only told me up front when I checked in that they did not take credit cards (I reserved the room with a credit card so I assumed that I could pay with one)it would not have been a problem. It ended up in being late getting to the train station because we had to run around and get cash to pay. I hope in the future they learn to remind guests when they check in. It was unfortunate because it tainted an otherwise nice stay.
excellent location, good size room, modern amentities, rooms well furnished and fantastic views!
I really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Abruzzi in November 2003. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room that I booked via this website was a single (150 euros) but they upgraded me to a double/twin at no additional charge (it was off season). For breakfast, they gave me a voucher card since the hotel does not have a restaurant and I ate across the piazza at one of the restaurants in the morning. The weather in late November was nice enough (warm enough) to sit at their outdoor tables. The breakfast was basic: Croissant, muffins, jam and butter and great Cafe Latte's but it's enough to keep you going til lunch. The Hotel is located directly on the piazza in front of the beautiful Pantheon. The square is surrounded by restaurants and shops and central to all locations. From the hotel I walked west to the Vatican or east to the Forum and Colliseum. Each took about 20 to 25 minutes but very pleasant. The Trevi fountain is 10 minutes away. The hotel room was large (it also included a fold out bed from a chair) and looked out over the piazza. The room has a double insulated window that shut out all the noise (Room 306). In comparison to other european hotels it was bright large and nicely decorated. The 2 floors below did not appear to have been updated like the third floor rooms, but they appeared to be the ones without the bathrooms ensuite. The only small issue was that the elevator was on the 1st floor, not the ground floor and I had a heavy suitcase. I would definitely stay at the hotel again on my next trip to Rome!
Location was amazing. I must have misunderstood something, because not only was there no washroom in my room. But the shared/public washroom had no shower or bath...just a toilet and a sink. I don't know if this was just my room, or the whole hotel or just the rooms on the second floor. Obviously if you are in rome for more than a day, this is a problem! So if you know that before hand, its an okay hotel, but i didnt. So i was let down for sure.
The location of this place is excellent and makes staying here worthwhile. My room (a single w/out bath) was very small, but adequate. The bed was quite firm and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served at a restaurant on the Piazza della Rotunda--you can eat at an outside table with a great view of the pantheon. Pretty nice.
9.3
I stayed in one of the first floor rooms, without bathroom. A real bargain, at only 55 euros. Welcoming staff, a large, clean room with comfortable bed, magnificent views of the Pantheon, clean bathroom down the corridor. The only disadvantage was noise, which is only to be expected really, overlooking the Pantheon, but still quite phenomenal, even with double-glazing and earplugs! Otherwise, totally recommended.
Basic but clean and friendly hotel - we didn't have an en-suite room, but there was a bathroom down the corridor with loads of hot water.Worth staying there for the location alone. Our room looked right onto the Pantheon and it was a fantastic base for exploring Rome by foot. They also do take credit cards, and breakfast at a cafe round the corner was included. We'd definately stay there again.
We love this place. It's not posh or fancy in any way but the location is one of the best in Rome. Where else can you look out the window and see the oldest intact ancient Roman building in the world. Abruzzi is a bit noisy but we stay there every time we're in Rome!
The staff of the hotel was great - they helped me locate a hard to find digital video adapter in downtown Rome.
My only complaint was a reservation problem on my first night, they did set me up in another hotel but it was an a hassle
You could hardly beat the location and the surrounding atmosphere. The rooms were very small (Even for europian standards)but they were very clean. Some of the rooms on the lower floors did seem a little noisy and didn't have air-conditioning.
Only stayed 1 night. Had booked a single room with view of Pantheon. Room turned out to overlook dingy alleyway instead -received a discount as they could not offer me any other room. Great location. Bathroom and washing facilities not particularly sterile but OK. Average breakfast.
The only complaint would be that the noise level was very loud. However, I know that the Abruzzi is in the process of remodeling and adding air conditioning to the rooms. I was on the first floor, which hadn't been remodeled yet. Therefore, I had to keep the window open to get any air. If I could have closed the window to sleep, then everything would have been perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about Rome and all it has to offer. I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends.
The hotel has an awesome location overlooking the Pantheon and the view from our room was superb! The staff was very friendly and professional. Because the rooms opened out onto the piazza the noise level was quite loud at night - but we found it to be soothing white-noise and had no problem getting to sleep with the windows wide open. There was AC so we could have closed the windows and turned it on if the noise was a factor - but it wasn't and we didn't want to shut out the atmosphere of the happy buzz. The hotel is very basic with a great location and a friendly staff. Although the room appeared to be clean, when I looked under the bed because I had dropped something, it was a bit dusty. A very small negative in an otherwise great stay!
The staff was all very nice and helpful. The location was amazing, walking distance from everything in the city, with a central destination right out the window. The hall shower was interesting, as it just hung in the center of the bathroom between the toilet and the sink, but the water pressure was so powerful, it made for the best shower on my trip. The noise outside the window was loud, as people gathered in the square until 3am, but there were some reasonable sound proof windows, though I didn't use them, as the commotion outside helped put me to sleep. I only feel bad that I stayed out till 4am on my last night, and the nice guy at the door had to wait up for me, though they say there's no curfew so there was no hard time about it either.
6.2
We were there during the heat wave, so it's hard to be objective about the noise. We had to keep the windows open and sometimes even the door, to get a breeze through the room. The housekeeping could have been better...although the person on duty our last day did a much better job. Still, the floors were filthy, especially in the bathrooms. I don't believe the bathroom floors were cleaned in the whole 5 days we were there. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful, but we were never able to get any phone service to one of our rooms, and the two short calls we did make were outrageously expensive. While it was a good experience being close to the center of everything, and a treat to see the Pantheon out the window, we would probably choose a place with air conditioning in the future.
Not cheap, but the view (on the Pantheon) and the location can't be beat. Friendly & competent service.
4.5
Fantastic location. Quite OK rooms. No public areas in hotel, hotel under reconstruction (same price). No iron board or similar when asked for. Last day of our stay, the breakfast place opened later than normal 7.00. Reception told us to eat next door and we would be refunded. We did, but we never got refunded (14 EURO) because "we have no cash"!!! In general: a hotel that could try at least a little bit harder to show that they are in the service business. Without the hotel's location their service level would not even be enough for 50 EURO per room.
