HOTEL OVERVIEW

Hotel Palazzo Guiderocchi Ascoli Piceno - Venere.com exterior - entrance Just a step away from the splendid Piazza del Popolo, the heart of Ascoli, the doors of one of the most prestigious historic town buildings - hotel Palazzo Guiderocchi - reopen, suggesting cultural and food and wine itineraries in a beautiful and mysterious land yet to be discovered.

Once the dwelling of a local tyrant and a historical burocratic headquarter, the building has been turned into a charming hotel with 32 rooms, a cafeteria with a warm and friendly atmosphere and the restaurant La Rua dei Notari - all thanks to a major renovation of the palace and its frescoes.

All the furnishing has been attended to in the smallest detail and all the guestrooms, although equipped with all comforts, have remained faithful to the palace's style.

The restaurant, closed due to refurbishing works, will re-open in summer 2007.

Car parking a nightmare. Difficult to find - the signposts don't take you all the way to the hotel. Dinner a big disappointment - poor quality food and no atmosphere. Good breakfast; interesting rooms and building.

This was our second stay at this lovely hotel in the heart of beautiful Ascoli Piceno - a gem of a place. The staff were always charming and helpful, making us feel welcome and ensuring our stay was truly enjoyable. We cannot imagine staying anywhere nicer here and intend to re-visit this hotel and area next year and hopefully for many years to come.

I would expect to make some compromises for the privilege of staying in a romantic renaissance palazzo, but very few were needed. The courtyard/reception area didn't quite live up the photos through having a motorbike and several bicycles parked in the middle, but hey, artistic licence. Other than that, the building was beautiful, the room comfortable, and the recption staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Dinner in the courtyard restaurant was also wonderfully romantic (until a large wedding party arrived, and took advantage of the fact that it was technically 'outside' to start smoking), with good food. Service at breakfast was a bit erratic.

Comfortable and welcoming. Unfortunately we had the poorest coffee of all throughout our visit to Italy - made up for by our visit to the Cafe Melitti in the Plaze Populus - a must experience

The residencia is some distance from the main hotel, although once there, the rooms are excellent, spacious, and appear to be even better value than the hotel. Visitors with restricted mobility may need to be cautious. Having said that, with the excellent kitchen and dining facilities and an excellent deli just across the square, eating is is a real possibility. It was our first time in Ascoli and we all loved it.

The hotel is difficult to reach, with poor indications: it took us one hour of wandering around in the town to get to it. Upon arrival, at 3 pm, the room was not ready. Informed that it would be ready in 20 min, we went for a walk, but when back we had to wait again until 4:30 pm. The room was located in a different building from the main hotel, without elevator, but this was not clearly indicated on the description when we booked. Air conditioning was not working well. Bathroom with tub, but no shower. No frigobar in the room. Not the level of service we would expect in a 4 stars hotel.

This was probably one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in -- a great value for the money and Ascoli Piceno is a wonderful town.

Non era chiaro che la sistemazione prescelta fosse in una dependence. Siamo stati lo stesso bene ma non abbiamo dormito nel palazzo indicato!

An excellent hotel in the center of a small beautiful town. The hotel is an ancient very nice building restructured with all the confort. I recommend a visit of Ascoli and a stay in Hotel Guiderocchi.

Right off the square in town!! Little noisy as all the youth come into town from the new district to let their hair down. Beautiful city and decent accomodation, though the rates shown here don't get you a room in the palace...you are down the street a little in a side hotel.

Hotel was excellent, but instead of room in renovated "palazzio", we were given a new modern self-catering apartment 2 blocks away. It was newly constructed, and I believe we were the first ones to stay in it. This was not what was advertised, although the room was excellent, as was the breakfast.

Our occasion was a holiday. We had booked an classic Room. This room is situated in an dependency. The room is very nice, but the location of this dependency is in the middle of the centre of Ascoli Piceno and that means a lot of noise in the evening of the people who are going out. And during the night the noise of the claening cars!! The hotel self is laying in an more quiet area, but here are only the more expensive rooms available. The hotelstaff speaks very bad English, so practice before you go your Italian language!! If you come by car you have to give your carkey to someone of the hotelstaff, parking is a great problem here.

Unfortunately, we missed the baby bed. The reception desk didn't know about it but the bed was already prepared in a meeting room. (We have seen the bed the next morning.) Unfortunately we forgot the children chair... In summray: very good choice. We would go again.

This is an excellent hotel in a charming small city that is a great base for exploring southern Le Marche. The hotel has a very nice historic feel and the location in Ascoli Piceno was unbeatable. We parked outside town (5-10 minute walk) and did not use the valet service at the hotel. We had very nice meals at La Locandiera and Ristorante Tornasacco (Pza del Popolo)

All the staff were very helpful especially with the problem of parking and how to find the hotel in the middle of the Quintanta. It is within easy walking distance of all the main Piazzas, cafes and shops. The room was spacious with excellent facilities. Breakfast was good, especially after our Rome experience - awful. The attached restaurant was superb and very resonably priced. We can't wait to go back and enjoy the hospitality of the hotel and the people of Le Marche. PERFECTO as our hosts often said!

We arrived late, at about 11 pm, and still the helpful staff managed to make reservations for us in a nice and affordable pizza restaurant! The room was lovely, the bathroom likewise. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to all visiting Ascoli P.!

When you book by internet for this hotel, it is impossible to change one date by another one untill two days before, so you can pay one additionnal night. It is lovely located in the center of old city, but take care for parking your car. The best, if there is place, is to park your car at the main street above the hotel (just 200m). No service for early breakfast (before 8:00am) althought they promised it us. Restaurant is good but with few choice, no fish, no beer, very few desserts.

Although the hotel was hard to find initially, it was well worth the effort! Very few hotels in Ascoli, but this must be as good as any. Excellent location in city centre and hotel full of character, maintaining its Palazzo origins. However, having made our booking requirements quite clear, we were most disappointed on arrival in the impressive courtyard, to be directed to an annexe 200 yards away down a side street. Although the room here was clean and smart, it totally lacked the olde worlde charm depicted in the photos on the website. Having expressed our disquiet strongly, we were eventually upgraded to a junior suite at the top of the old hotel at no extra cost. This was an excellent, spacious room with dual-aspect over the rooftops of the old city. The lesson is a) book a junior suite in the first place or b) make sure you receive confirmation that your room is in the main hotel and not the annexe. Ascoli is a gem!

1. In general, the hotel is very good to excellent. 2. I would expect to have a bathtub in the bathroom (and not a shower only). 3. I would expect to have glass glasses in the mini-bar and not plastic glasses (for drinking and for wine). 4. I would expect a "richer" breakfast buffet.

Bit of a strange review this one. All scores marked at mid point ....since ... The Hotel had double booked us ,and some others I believe. They were very apologetic, and already had rebooked us into an alternative hotel in town - Hotel Giolo. They came with us in our car to show us where the Gioli was AND paid the overnight stay (90 Euros). Having said that Hotel Gulio was not nearly as good as Palazzo G. looked, in fact it was a fairly bland establishment (albeit 4*) I would still like to try Palazzo G, but would not recommend Gulio for anything more than an overnight stop

We were switched to a dependance because in the main house was fully booked, so we had the view on Italy's most beautiful place "Piazza del Popolo", but the pub under my room closed at aroun 1.30 p.m. and until that time LOUD music was played...

From the doorman coming to a nearby piazza to guide us in, to the lovely rception where you get to sit in chairs at a desk (not a counter as in most hotels). Our stay was fantastic. The location is right in the middle of the "old town", and the staff have excellent skills in English. I cannot recommend Palazzo Guiderocchi highly enough.
