our stay at hotel del senato could not have been better. the hotel itself is clean and elegant, just as all the reviews say. the staff was the best of any hotel at which i have ever stayed...friendly, courteous, charming and helpful. my first contact, ms. anna johanssen,(front desk mgr.)went out of her way to accommodate a special request before our arrival, which made our visit to rome (my wife's first) so special. we will surely return to this wonderful hotel for an extended stay next time. this is the place you want to stay!
This was our first stay at Auberge Del Sonato. The staff was great and the location could not be beat. Great view of the Pantheon and centrally located. We loved the rooftop terrace and would frequent it every evening prior to dinner. Would definitely stay at the DelSonato agian and will recommend it to others.

The location is the big attraction - you could only be in Rome with those fabulous views of the Pantheon! Loved to look down on the piazza late at night when all was quiet too. We encountered very helpful staff for our 1 night stay and were given an upgrade to a superior room with a great view, plenty of space - including a lovely big bathroom. Decor is perhaps a little dated but very well maintained and certainly doesn't feel like a chain hotel. Drinks at sunset on the roof overlooking Rome are especially good. Breakfast is served in a ground floor dining room. Shame this isn't available on the roof too. The Senato is rather pricey, but we were very happy with our choice and would love to return.
This hotel is so well placed. As we were on our honeymoon they kindly upgraded us to a Junior Suite for free and we had an amazing view of the square (directly outside the Patheon). They also provided a bottle of Prosecco and fresh fruit. The hotel terrace bar is a great place to start the evening, and Michele (bar man) was really helpful with tips on places to visit in Rome. I really can't fault this hotel and we will definately stay here again when we are in Rome and i have already started recommending it to my friends and family.

First visit to Rome and chose Albergo Del Senato due to its location - excellent choice for us. Loved being in the heart of Rome. Hotel does exactly what it says it will. Beautiful roof top bar. Breakfast items were plentiful and replenished regularly. Would have liked a variety in the type of eggs available each morning, 7 days of scrambled eggs, got a bit tiresome. But hand on heart, this was the only "gripe". Next time we go to Rome, I would hope to stay at the Senato again (if we can afford it). Thank you.

We stayed 5 days. The location is unique, many sites are in walking distance. That is why the price is so high. The hotel itself is not that great: Rooms are very small, you hear neighbors taking a shower, we had to sleep with open windows (noisy) because the room was to warm and they would not turn on the air conditioning in April, breakfast had no variety during the 5 days. staff are all fine and very friendly. Next time I may take a hotel which is not that centrally localed and save half the cost. Using public transport is easy and cheap.

Stayed for 4 nights and there is no doubt the Hotel made it a perfect holiday. Our double room was breathtaking! Staff were so friendly and helpful in every department. Service was 100% spot on, and would rate this at least a five star hotel. Would recommend to anyway visiting Rome. Fantastic.
9.5
A fantastic place to stay in central Rome ideal for a special trip - in the middle of all the sights, great restaurants and the best coffee in town (Sant'eustache). The rooms and staff were faultless. Didn't use the dining room or bar as there are too many truely exceptional ones outside. The roof terrace looks good though (opens in June 2008). Pantheon-facing rooms are noisy but the view was worth it.
8.7
I chose Del Senato because I wanted a hotel that was centrally located to all of the activities of Rome. It was perfect for this! This was the best hotel we stayed at during our Italy trip. All hotel staff were helpful and courteous. In particular, Mauro, who worked the desk in the evening, did an outstanding job making dinner recommendations for us each evening. We really enjoyed our stay here, would pick this hotel again in the future and would recommend it to others.

Outstanding hotel. Very expensive, but location is breathtaking. You are directly beside the Pantheon. We sent our parents there for their wedding anniversary. Only minor point - remember it is called Albergo del Senato, not Hotel del Senato. Just a language thing, helps with taxis etc on arrival.
Staying at the Del Senato heightened our experience of Rome immeasurably. To throw open our windows and lean out into the Piazza, hear the fountain and people and to see the massive beauty of the Pantheon transformed my entire family. Within five minutes of our arrival our eleven-year-old daughter was sketching the Pantheon from her window. Beyond the location, the hotel staff was exceptional. There was a genuine warmth from the front desk to the wonderful bartender.....everyone seemed to care about our experience in Rome. We will be back....I hope soon!!
8.5
The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better. The only downside was that the room was very hot and we had to open the window, which was noisy. I didn't complain about this though, so maybe the hotel would have been able to help.
8.4
This was our third visit to Rome and without hesitation the location is superb. The staff at the hotel was excellent and you can get great cocktails in the bar. The selection of restaurants adjacent to the hotel was fantastic.
The room was rather small and needed to be refreshed. The elevator is very slow and rather small. Breakfast is average. Location is the best to be found in Rome. Warm and friendly welcome.

Had a wonderful time. Staff, hotel were excellent. Would love to go back. Stayed three nights at the hotel
We stayed 4 nights at the Del Senato and could not have been more pleased. From Luca's welcome on arrival to his Arrivederci when we left it was a terrific experience. Luca also managed to find us two amazing guides, Stefano and Favio, twin brothers, who gave us two truly magnificent tours. The Vatican and Ancient Rome. Their knowledge and charming personalities gave us insights we never would have had otherwise, and it was all due to Luca's efforts on our part. The room was maybe a bit small but probably standard for Rome. It was extremely comfortable, with the most comfortable bed of all the hotels we stayed at. Neat as a pin too, and a great bathroom with hairdryer and a dual US/european socket for US electrical items. The breakfast room was beautiful and the breakfast was just what we wanted. A nice selection and lots of it. The location is perfect. The Pantheon is literally right next door and could be seen plainly from our window, but the room was still very quiet at night. The Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps and the National monument are all within easy walking distance, as were the coliseum and many other sights. The bar was very cozy and Michele the bartender was a fountain of knowledge of the area. A truly superb hotel made even better by the people who run it.

Not seasoned travellers (first time holiday without kids for 20 years!). Special anniversary - perfect hotel - perfect destination. Luca (on reception desk) was excellent! Great local knowledge and advice and fantastic restaurant recommendation. Easily within walking distance of all top sites, and rooftop bar was wonderful for panoramic/intimate view of Rome.
Great location central to all interesting places and easy to walk to even with kids, lots of nearby good restraunts etc.., hotel has of high standards of fittings etc and I would would go back next time, staff spoke good english, their limo minibus back to airport was 75 euro for family of 5
Lovely hotel in the right location. We walked all over Rome from our hotel. The staff was always so welcoming when we came downstairs. This was a great place to stay.
9.8
My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Rome. This hotel made our stay very special. Our hotel room overlooked the Pantheon and Piazza. It was conveniently looked to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Piazza Naovona. The property was clean and well staffed.
The service at the front desk was great. The maid service was great. I loved this place.
We stayed because of reviews on Trip Advisor and they were spot on correct. The hotel and staff were great and extremely helpful. They directed us very accurately to all of the historical spots we wanted to see. The breakfast very good. Our only complaint was the air conditioning which by US standards was sub par but was probably good to excellent by European standards. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. One of the complaints that I had read was the lack of a restaurant in the hotel, hay this is no problem at all since there are probably 100 good restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel.
7.9
Location is the main reason I stayed here. But the hotel itself is great also. Room was adequately sized but great view and perfectly good sleep. Staff were great. Rooftop terrace we loved. Pity the breakfast was a bit sparse. That's the only thing. For the money I would've expected better here. No fresh fruit salad for eg.
Great hotel. We booked a Deluxe room, and received a room on the top floor with French windows overlooking the Pantheon (see picture). Location is great, and the rooftop bar has a great view as well. Would definitely stay here again!

We spent five nights at the Hotel Del Senato end of July, beginning of August. The staff was fantastic; location amazing; and Del Senato is the perfect place to return to after roaming the streets of Rome.
Hotel is in the middle of it all! Bar on the rooftop is a great way to see the top of the city. On a clear day you can even see the Vatican. Piazza in front is always active, but you couldn't hear a sound from our room which faced onto the street. A great place to stay.
If you want to stay in the heart of Rome this is a great hotel. Sensational view to the "piazza della Rotunda" and the "Pantheon". Better location in Rome? Impossible. Just a few minutes walking to "piazza Navona", "fontana di Trevi" or "piazza di Spagna. In the surroundings, excellent restaurants: Quinzi & Gabrielli, Rosetta, il Convivio. And, probably, the best ice cream in town, gelateria "Della Palma", just in "via della Maddalena", # 20-23. Excellent and friendly hotel staff. Not a large bedroom and bathroom. High price -- someone might say "too high" -- but if you want to stay in the heart of Rome, you have to pay the price. There's no other way that I know. First time in Rome? The most famous pizza in town is Baffeto's (open only at night). Or you could try "la Sagrestia", via del Seminario, 89, only a few steps from the hotel entrance. A lasagna , don't lose the restaurant "da Mario", in "via della Vite",# 55-56, (a little salty, but the best I have ever eaten), close to "piazza di Spagna". "Da Mario" is not an expensive restaurant. Weimar Figueiredo

The perfect place for a stay in Rome - beautiful view of he Pantheon and in the heart of the city.
This was one of the most enjoyable stays in a hotel that we have ever had. The staff is so helpful and truly upbeat. The room was spacious, immnaculately clean and the hotel's location in the heart of old Rome....with the Pantheon out the front door...was perfect for walking quickly to other destinations whether it was St Peter's, the Forum or the Spanish Steps. There are also many good restaurants and interesting shops in the immediate area. We plan to go to this hotel again and again when in Rome.
We stayed here one week in March 2007 - our first trip to Rome. The location could not be better. I especially enjoyed waking up early and watching activities in Piazza della Rotonda, with a favorite dog who made his morning rounds - including a visit to the Pantheon. The staff was friendly, accommodating, good sense of humor. Try the bar - there's a fantastic bartender who introduced us to some Roman specialty cocktails and freshly-made hors d'oeuvres with each round. Housekeeping staff actually bowed when we greeted them in the hallways. Super clean, decent size room by European standards, thoughtful turndown service. The rooms are well soundproofed - simply closing the windows keeps out the noises of the square if you so desire. We ate in the area often, trying many of the local restaurants; not one bad meal, bad service, or bad attitude in the bunch. We cannot say enough good things about this property, and we travel quite frequently. Absolutely will return, as soon as possible!
We picked this hotel on the basis of the reviews we had read, and we were not disappointed. The location of the hotel is outstanding; not only from the stunning position overlooking the Pantheon, but the proximity to all the sights. We easily walked to the Vatican and the colosseum. On our arrival at midday our room was ready (room 204 - the only room with a balcony overlooking the Pantheon, fantastic). Everyone at the hotel could not be more friendly and helpful. This was our first visit to Rome and we would definately return to the Del Senato - 10 out of 10!!!!
Norwegian couple, approx 40 yrs; Wonderful romantic hotel, location and surroundings. Ok, off season, but the positive and helpful hotel receptionist knew who we were when we arrived. A large room with a high ceiling, a fine wiew over the Pantheon, many tourist attractions within walking distance. We will return :-)
Stayed here for a long weekend. Fantastic location, walking distance from all popular attractions. Amazing room overlooking Pantheon - hard to drag myself away at the end of the holiday! Helpful and courteous staff who provided complimentary champagne in my room on my birthday. Was able to check in by 11am as we arrived early, and stored our luggage all day after check out, as we had a late flight. Even ordered us a local taxi to the airport hours after check out when we were no longer their responsibility! Can't fault the whole experience, and would definately recommend this hotel to all travellers. Thanks for a great time!

This is a quality hotel in a great location.
Nice hotel, very warm people and great service. Best place to stay in Rome, next to the Pantheon so everything is at walking distance.
9.4
An unbeatable location if you like to be in the thick of things. If this hotel was any closer to the Pantheon, it would be INSIDE the Pantheon. Fantastic hotel, slightly expensive, but worth every penny.

Location, location, location - and the views were spectacular. I love Rome, and this piazza is my favorite place to stay. Everyone at the Del Senato was more than competent, completely pleasant. Our stay in Rome was magical, as usual. A little pricey, perhaps, but well worth it for us.
wonderful hotel..excellent location..excellent staff..we had a wonderful time at the Hotel Del Senato..breakfast was very good..i would highly recommended this hotel!!!
The location is perfect. Watching the sunset over Rome from the rooftop terrace was lovely. The room, although small, looked out over the square. The staff we so helpful and welcoming. Would definitely stay again and recommend it.
This was our 2nd visit to the del Senato and I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is superb and friendly, the surroundindings are beautiful, the rooftop deck is a joy, and the view of the Pantheon from our room is hard to believe.
This hotel was marvelous!! The location is excellent, it is central to everything you would want to see in Rome. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When we arrived our room was facing the piazza, so we asked for a more quiet room and they obliged without hesitance. I can't wait to go back to Rome and stay at the Del Senato.
Brilliant!Best short break ever, best hotel overall [we were given a free upgrade],best location in Rome, and free champagne provided on my wife's birthday.Go for it!
I would stay here again and would recommend anyone else to stay here as well. Great location and staff. The hotel is exactly as you would hope it would be. Very clean, not the cheapest place to stay but you get what you pay for.
Excellent, but noisy, location. Room was too warm (in March) and turning off the heat did not help. Unable to keep the window open overnight because the area was too noisy. Staff was very helpful and attentive.
Fabulous hotel, location could not be better. The only noise was that from the piazza below but that just added to the atmosphere of being in central Rome. The standard rooms were spacious enough, especially for a central hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful - we were allocated a front of house room as requested, they sent a courtesy bottle of wine to the room for my birthday, they organised transport from and to the airport. We will most definitely stay there again. My only comment to Venere would be that as we booked and paid on departure the cost was slightly higher due to the exchange rate - however it could have gone the other way! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Having found this Hotel through this website I would just like to say SUPERB! My wife & I stayed here for her 40th birthday and were warmly welcomed by a friendly gentleman speaking fluent English, as we entered the reception he immediately knew who we were, a great start. As we arrived early (11:30am) our bags were taken into storage and he explained we could have our room within an hour, so we took this opportunity to explore the square and the amazing Pantheon and obviously sample a superb Cappucino. The view from our room (406)was fantastic, we could almost touch the Pantheon and spent many hours people watching in the square. The room was not the largest, but ample for our stay and very clean. Great shower, slippers provided and a surprise frr bottle of Champagne was presented to my wife on her actual birthday, with a hand written personal card - great touch. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice, small gripes being the juice was not 'real' and the scrambled eggs cold, otherwise a fantastic stay. We would recommend the Hotel every time and would say it would be hard to find better. The position of the Hotel meant we could walk everywhere in Rome within 20 mins - magic. Finally, after another recommendation from this sight, we found a restaurant called L'e Vie run by French missioneries, great food, service and prices. Cross the square from the Hotel, left at news stand, right then immediately left again, keep to the right side of these buildings and you will find the entrance, but blink and you may it. Hope this helps someone have as great a time as we did.
I stayed at the Del Senato for 3 nights in Feb with my partner and two friends, and i can say it was the best short break we have had. This was our first trip to Italy [ROME]and we found the staff very helpfull and the location simply excellent.
A fantastic hotel with all major sites within easy walking distance, this hotel is everything it says it is!!!!!
Absolutely fantastic - even better than we expected - the location was incredible and the hotel was just perfect - don't stay anywhere else in Rome other than than the Albergo Del Senato, recommended 100%.
Rome is a fantastic city, that was made even more enjoyable at the Del Senato. We had a view overlooking the Pantheon which was spectacular. The room was air conditioned which at the time of the year (mid January) was very much needed! Overall, staff were wonderful, room was wonderful, city was wonderful.. altogether it was wonderful!
