The owners - Robert on the evening shift & the woman (didn't get her name) - were extremely kind adn outgoing. The location is superb (safe for a solo, public-transportation traveller)- accessible by foot to bus/train station and to tourist attractions.

This B&B was great. Within walking distance of railway station although a little awkward to find as there were some roadworks going on and the map was not clear. The hotel does not have large advertising outside, just a door. The address is correct so go by that. Once inside, is is a couple of flights of stairs up. The staff is really good. They have good English. Big bonus was a laundromat a couple of blocks away in the same street heading towards the island. You are within easy walking distance of the island. You must try the pizzas in front of the cathedral. One of these restaurants (can't remember which one - sorry - I think it was the first one on the right as you approach the cathedral) has fantastic pizzas. The best in Sicily. The rest are nothing special. Our room seemed to collect water on the floor in the bathroom as you have a shower so be careful. Have a coffee/tea break on the central patio. Staff are happy to assist. Be early for breakfast.

Excellent situation, less than 5 minutes walking to Ortigia. Shops and restaurants near to the hotel, easy to park there. The building is and old house that has been adapted to a hotel, with high ceilings, and large commun rooms. Decoration or the house is very nice. The only problem was that workers started to work early in the morning, since a inner small square is being improved. Although entrance of the building is a bit dissapointing, once yo get into de real hotel, the change is shocking. Breakfast fantastic, and is possible to have it (I was in early september) in a tables outdoor.

This is an old property. It could benefit from some light decorative work (some humidity traces were evident in the corners of the room). After the first (not entirely positive) impressions, I could appreciate the position of the B&B and the decent experience. I would not recommend this B&B for longer breaks (we only stayed one night).

Casa Mia is a beautiful place and we did have a pleasant stay - but there were works going on on the main streets which sandwiched Casa Mia, so there was a LOT of noise. We felt that we should have been told when we booked or at least given a reduced rate. The family were lovely though and the rooms were very comfortable. Also, the area situated was amazing. Very nice district and 10 mins walk to Ortigia.

Hard to find because street outside is under construction. Bed confortable, room warm- thank God. Breakfast good, though get there before all gone. Beautiful dishes, nice touch. Close to whats to see. Owners great. Rooms could do with some minor repairs, would take so little time so why not done. Stairway up is a disgrace. Outside construction noise during weedays distrubing. Parking a nightmare.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and on the whole found it a pleasant experience. The B&B is in a great location, around 7 minutes walk to the beautiful Ortygia, and around 15 minutes walk to the archeological site and museum. It's a nicely presented place, with plenty of character. Our room was spacious and clean, although the bathroom was a little on the small side. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room, and largely consisted of a range of sweet pastries. However, our experience of Casa Mia was considerably marred by the fact that there was building work going on literally right outside our bedroom window. This meant that we were woken up at 7.15am by the sound of hammering, drilling and builders shouting, which did NOT make for a particularly relaxing stay. There was scaffolding right in front of our window, meaning that we had to keep the shutters closed to avoid the builders who were walking past being able to see into our room. On one morning, we also had the electricity to our room cut off for several hours, which was particularly inconvenient as it was first thing in the morning. What was most disappointing was the fact that the owners did not appear to have considered the comfort of the guests in all of this - we were not made aware of the building work at the time of booking, and of course when we discovered it on arriving at Casa Mia, it was too late to cancel without having to pay the full fee for our stay. Whether or not this was deliberate on behalf of the owners, it seemed to us that it would have been sensible to either warn guests in advance, or schedule the building work to occur during rather more sociable hours (eg. from 9am). All in all, we enjoyed the good location and atmosphere of Casa Mia, but found the disturbance caused by the building work rather unpleasant, and also felt that it represented a somewhat worrying lack of concern by the owners for the experience of the guests.

Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was Ok but mainly sweet rather than savoury items available. We had a room overlooking the street which was very noisy overnight - there are other rooms which are probably quieter. Location was good but parking was limited. Would look for somewhere quieter next time.

While the double room was spacious but noisy, the single room in the roof had a bed that was rather narrow and seemed to be geared more towards children, and there were problems in it with the water, both in terms of supply and heat. Breakfasts were delicious, but we would have appreciated fresh fruit or yogurt rather than so much cake.

well located, close to the bus staion and walking distance to Ortygia. We took the bus to the ruins. Family run and very friendly people. There is construction work on the building and the street but did not interfere with our stay. A little gem. don't be put off by the door way

This is a great location, especially for visiting Ortygia. Nice breakfast. Be aware that there is no one at the desk over night. Be sure your keys work. A couple with young children could not get into the area where there room was as the key did not work and there was no one to let them in as it was after 9pm. Fortunately, other guests heard the commotion and finally let them in to the area where their room was. Limited parking if you have a car. We were able to park right in front of the building

The whole hotel was much run down from the previous reviews of 2005. We had 2 connected rooms for 3 persons with one very weak air-con unit which was not even sufficient for one room. The toilet mechanism had to be flushed several times to work. The breakfast served only sweets - cakes and jam and bread. Instead of telling us they did not serve cappuccino when we asked for it, they gave us a coffee pot of latte coffee. The place was also under renovation and really was not in a fit state to be functioning as a hotel. The place is so much more run down now than the photo gallery shows. Internet can only be used at the office after breakfast which is not at all convenient if you have a queue of guests and want to start your day or are checking out after breakfast.

This is a very reasonably priced place to stay. It is located on the 3rd floor of a building on the main street in Siracusa. The breakfast and the area it is served in is wonderful. The daughter is very helpful and informative. They do only take cash and the other staff person was less than helpful. The bathroom shower really needs an upgrade and they could cover over the ancient tile floors in the rooms. The room was charming and quiet on the back side of the building. You can easily walk from the train station to the hotel. No elevator so need to carry bags up 2 flights of stairs. If I had to do it over I would have stayed in Noto rather than Siracusa which really could be seen in a couple hours. Lots of trafic and confusing streets after we picked up our car.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mia. The property is run by a charming multilingual family who live in a sumptuous apartment facing the street. The excellent buffet breakfast is served in their home and taken on the terrace at the back. Guest rooms are in a separate apartment looking onto another street at the back. Furnishings etc are old fashioned but perfectly suitable for people like us. Guests are mainly middle aged English and French. Good place to stay, near station and within easy walk of historic sites.

Very good stay on the whole. Excellent warm and friendly welcome, from both mother and daughter. Superb breakfast with pastry and home-made marmalade. Second floor walk up location right in the heart of the city. friendly staff and very accomodating. breakfast was a buffet served in an open air courtyard.Th room was very clean and the bathroom was very large as well. The only drawbacks were the location is difficult to reach by car because of all the one way streets and the hotel does not have a large sign posted outside but rather a small placard standing by the door on the sidewalk. We found entertainment and nightlife a short walk in any direction from the hotel.

A very nice B&B with helpful manager/owners. Our room, while not spacious, was very nicely done, spotless and fairly quiet. While the parking was on the street there were enough places to park. The only drawback was a lack of an elevator. However, the owner helped us with our luggage. The breakfast was excellent and served from the owners dining room and a terrace was available for eating. I would stay there again.

This is a beautiful hotel, run by a family who are gracious, helpful and - rightfully - proud of their home which they have transformed into a business. They provide a very pleasant, regional breakfast, which may be consumed inside or out. The location is excellent, handy for coach routes, close to the railway station and a short walk to Ortygia. Siracusa is a lovely city with very hospitable and warm people, patient with tourists, and prepared to let you try to speak Italian to them. We look forward to returning in the very near future

A bed and breakfast with great charm. The family were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a large buffet with home made jams and cakes among the usual rolls and biscuits which you could eat either in the dining room or on the terrace. Not far to walk to Ortigia which is lively and full of good restaurants. If you have a car there are a couple of parking spaces reserved for guests just outside on Corso Umberto, but otherwise it can be a nightmare to find somewhere to park - but that goes for anywhere in Siracusa.

The hotel is an apartment in an ancient building right in the center of Syracusa, a few blocks from the bridge to Ortygia. For the price of a triple, our daughter got her own room beside ours. It was great except for two exceptions. People in Syracuse stay up all Saturday night, riding motorscooters and talking loudly. That makes it hard to sleep. Also, we stayed out pretty late ourselves, and the owner was asleep by the time I discovered how cold I was. Just remember to ask for extra blankets and bring slippers if you go in December. Breakfast is served in a dining room full of antiques, and the owner sat with us and told us about her family while we ate her homemade jam. She and her husband would not accept credit cards, but we just went to an ATM and got the cash we owed her. We were able to walk all over Ortygia but had to drive to the Greco-Roman ruins theatre in the northern part of the city. The location and the interesting owner made the noise and the cold worth it. We will go again.

Our first impression was not so good. Had to walk through a shabby staircase and a courtyard. You need 3 keys! But as mentioned before breakfast is wonderful, staff is welcoming, location is central and the pricing is ok.

Breakfast was wonderful, homemade cakes and jam, and the outdoor dining area is serene and welcoming. It is a privilege to be received in Siracusa by a family for breakfast at their home. It is even better if the bread, cakes, marmelades and jams are home made. Much better if this family is highly educated and polite. Then you have your breakfast at the nice terrace! Very well located hotel, at a walking distance for bus and train station and touristic spots. Spacious room and bathroom (our was even perfectly equiped for handicapped!) in that XIX century palazzo. For us there would be no other place in Siracusa.

The whole place stinks of cheap air freshener attached to walls on corridors and rooms; we had to remove the batteries to prevent the unit from emitting the nausiating smell every 20 minutes (we thought when we first heard it that there was an animal in the room). Revolting breakfast of cream cakes and cheap instant coffee; a general impression of stinginess prevails amid plastic imitations of the owner's idea of elegance. DON'T GO THERE.

The location of this B&B is ideal for those wishing to spend more time in the island of Ortigya, which is just a few minutes walk. The Greek Theatre can be reached in about 20 minutes by foot. The hosts are extremely charming, and they try to stay out of your way as much as possible. The B&B is more on the modest side, but it is charming, and it offers very spacious rooms. Breakfast during the winter time is served inside the family’s apartments which are very nice and cosy. They also have two parking spaces right in front of the hotel (marked with the yellow lines), but make sure to get signs from the host to put inside your car. In short, this B&B was a great value for the money, and I would recommend it to other people as long they keep in mind that it is not necessarily a fancy place!

Casa Mia was AMAZING!!!!! It was a perfect location, pretty much midway between the train station and the island... where most of the attractions are. I would reccomend it to anyone... the cutest place with a wonderful, quaint atmosphere. The breakfast was very elegant and more than I had expected. The family that owns it are the cutest ever, and I tried to tell them just how happy I was with my limited Italian.. but I don't think they could have possibly gotten the full picture. If I ever go back to sicily, I would make a trip to siracusa just to stay in this cute little bed and breakfast again!! It had soo much character... very picturesque.... you'll love it!!

The room we were provided was quite large and very quiet. Air-condition was functional. Above all the owner was very helpful and friendly, which impressed us most. There was a bar nearby where we could get the best arancini. We would come back to Casa Mia if we have a chance to come back to Siracusa.

A pleasant flat in a charming town, ideal for exploring the western half of Sicily. Good parking and security behind automatic gates. The washing machine didn't work, and we found no tumble-dryer. But the owners are friendly and helpful and will surely take note of this.

Casa Mia was recommended by a number of Sicilian friends, and they clearly know their way around. The hotel is located in an ancient palazzo on the main street of Siracusa, about ten minutes walk from Ortygia, the old part of town. The location is quite perfect, far away from ugly modern Siracusa but not in the old town, which is charming but decrepit in many parts. You will have breakfast in a beautiful terrace in the summer, or in a dining room which will get you back to the Gattopardo era, that is 19th century rich decaying nobility. Your host is a gracefukl Sicilian who will point you to excellent restaurant, and provide plenty of homemade cakes flavored with the bitter oranges from his country estate. The Bed and Breakfast is organized in a most professional way, but keeps the charm of feeling a welcome guest in a Sicilian household. The rooms are well furnished, beds comfortable, they may look on the simple side, but whatever you find in teh room is very tasteful and original furniture from last century. A little more pressure in the shower, and double paned windows to have complete silence while sleeping, are the only improvements I could think of (though the rooms are quiet enough, not a worry at all). If you really care for the latter two, go to a soulless Hilton hotel, pay twice as much, and be greeted by a porter who will suggest you some tourist0-trap for dinner. If you want to experience Sicily in a most comfortable, welcoming way, you should not miss Casa Mia. I wished I had stayed more than two days. Use Syracuse as a central location to visit Noto, agusa, Modica. This has been my best hotel experience in Italy.

Casa Mia was our home for seven delightful days just prior to Christmas 2004. The location and price are unbeatable. The property is situated halfway between the charming peninsula Ortygia (a short walk across the bridge), where we spent most of our time, and the Antiquities archaeological park (Greek and Roman theatres, quarries, catacombs) near the fabulous antiquties museum. The property is situated on a city street convenient to cafes, bakeries, restaurants, and shopping stores. Casa Mia is in a very safe location and our rooms were totally quiet at night. The hosts are delightful and charming. They went out of their way at many turns to help, explain, and assist us -- it was like having family in the area to help with problems that arose.

Friendly owner and the great characters of the building made you feel at home. B/fast was excellent and the price was just too good. Location of the hotel is also ideal. Would give 4.5/5 rating if I could.

We had a really wonderful stay at "Casa Mia"! Flavia and Simone made us feel very welcome as if we were good friends or relatives. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast in the small courtyard was unforgettable, especially as Flavia served homemade cakes and jams, decorated on a large table in their wonderful elegant turn-of-the-centuries dining- room. We will certainly stay again at "Casa mia" on our next trip to Siracusa!

Great location, close to everything. Large room, including sitting room. Big bathroom, but poor drainage in shower. No tissues or hairdryer provided. Bed made each day, no change of towels. Breakfast - excellent, served on Villeroy & Boch plates! No off street parking, but we luckily got a parking spot right out the front. Good value for money.

Think it does not correspond to the web or to its brochure. It's much more tired and dated and beds very uncomfortable. Although the owners are friendly. Breakfast also very limited.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mia. The room was spacious and quiet, the owners welcoming and helpful. An excellent breakfast was served. However the bathroom needs refurbishing, it's a little run down. The central location made Casa Mia an excellent base for the major sights on Ortygia and the Archaeological Park.

Cannot recommend Casa Mia highly enough! A wonderful stay in a lovely B&B which was very, very welcoming, an unusual, tasty and highly enjoyable breakfast, quirky, homely rooms and all the facilities you would expect at a very, very reasonable price! Ortygia just 5 minutes walk away and many local restaurants from which to choose to eat in the evening. We'll be back!

We found Casa Mia to be a very welcoming, comfortable, and friendly acommodation. Its central location in Syracuse allowed us to walk to the Archaelogical park, Greek theatre and into Ortygia. Parking our car was simple and we were able to leave it for two days during our stay. Our bedroom and bathroom were a comfortable size and we had a small balcony overlooking a quiet street. The breakfasts were magnificent with a wide selection of cereals, pastries, breads, juices and cakes. The dining room of the main house where breakfast is presented, is beautifully decorated with the family's heirlooms and we ate outside in a lovely enclosed courtyard. We only stayed two nights, we would happily have stayed more.

Extremely pleasant family-run property. Definitely more of a B & B than a hotel. Located on a busy shopping street fairly close to the main attractions, but the rooms (or, at least, our rooms) were set back far enough from the street that noise was not a problem. The restaurant on Ortigia that the proprietor recommended was very good with a lovely view from the terrace. Unless you are looking for an anonymous luxury hotel, I would highly recommend this property.

We scored the room pictured on web site - surprised to find that there are at least ten other rooms - we do not know if they were of a similar standard - our bathrrom was small but adequate - breakfast was excellent.

The best beakfast ever, with genuine homemade cakes ! A very smart B&B, which is quite rare in Sicily. Only one advise : one room is located near by the Corso Umberto, very noisy : just avoid it.

Very nice rooms at good price right in the middle between the two sight-seeng areas in Siracus (at walking distance to both the old town and teatro romanico). Beautiful terrace, where the breakfast is served. The owners are extremely kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay there and will choose Casa Mia again if we come back to Siracus.

A beautiful hotel with excellent service. Flavia was most welcoming. Our room was lovely with gorgeous high ceilings, an antique bed and a balcony overlloking a quiet road. Casa Mia was in an excellent location for sight seeing in Siracusa. Loads of lovely restuarants nearby. I would recommend Casa Mia to anyone thinking of visiting Siracusa and would definitely stay there again. 10+/10

My partner and I cannot speak more highly of the welcome we received at Casa Mia. The proprietors, Flavia and Simon were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was huge and the bathroom was relatively new. Breakfast included delicious home made cakes each morning and the coffee was great!. We are as always very pleased with the efficient services of venere.com.

Amazing place in the heart of Siracusa; host and hostess could not have been more amicable...her homemade breakfast pastries were tasty and the space is quaint and charming without being schmaltzy.
