Excellent Location near city exit with easy parking. It was not easy to find but a market was taking place that day which limited our street access.

La Locanda is perfectly located in Volterra and is clean and the staff are friendly. Parking is close by and there are numerous restaurants and bars nearby. The restaurant that the hotel does half board with however is not the best in town.

A lovely hotel my second time there, Volterra is a great spot, you just need to know where to park cars, there are spots outside the wall of the town, which is just beside the Roman Theatro, small but well preserved. It is also within walking distances of the centre of the town and some lovely shops in particular there are two jewellry shops across the road from the hotel and if you like alabastar, this is the place to come

Hi my name is Diana and I spent one night at the Locanda and I to say everything was perfect about the hotel. Its near to all the attractions and the bathroom was nice and warm since its winter. The only handicap is the parking, you must ask the hostess where to park so it will be easier with the bags ecc... Have a nice time at Volterra its worth staying.

We were very pleased with our accommodations. The room was a little small, but the bathroom was spacious and the entire hotel was VERY clean. Stefania was extremely pleasant and willing to help us with getting our bags unloaded from the car, instructions for the local parking, information about restaurants and museums. We hope to return to the area---we didn't allow enough time in Volterra---and will, definitely return to the Hotel La Locanda. The only drawback was the parking---these walled cities are hard to finding inexpensive parking. Our map didn't show which gate to come into in order to drop off our bags, so we had to find a place to park the car, walk inside the walls to find the hotel, then, after getting help from Stefania, we had to walk back to the car, drive into the town to drop off the bags, then find a parking lot that allowed for free parking from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. and had to pay for the remainder of the time we were there. I think there needs to be more information regarding location, directions from the highway (not just a location of the hotel) and cost of parking.

The hotel was a great bolt hole to use to travel around Volterra. Close to everything and easily accessed by car once you have worked out how to get into the town centre. Parking is in the public car park which is about 200 yds away - no problem. Lovely helpful people. If we return to Volterra we will use this hotel.

staff were very helpful as we were on a bike trip. They showed us where to leave our bikes safely. They also were accommodating about our taking an early breakfast.

Very nice hotel, located in Volterra intra muros. Quiet position. Good basis to visit the Volterra city and surroundings in depth. Graceful service. To be recommended.

Very difficult by car to reach the hotel. It was indicated free parking, in reality it is a public parking at 200 m of the hotel ! The breakfast was very limited and the quality was bad.

This was one of the nicest hotels we visited during our 17 day stay in Northern Italy. Our room was spacious and our bathroom was the largest of any hotel we visited. The staff was most helpful and the breakfast was quite nice. One downside: Volterra is extremely confusing when approached via automobile. We drove around the city twice trying to find out how to get the hotel. We finally parked and found the Information office. With their help, we found the hotel easily. Get specific directions from the hotel before trying to find it. Other than that....we loved it!

This hotel would be a very good base to visit not only Volterra, but also S. Gimignano and the region as a whole. It is very well located, about 50 meters from a city gate and parking lot; even when this is full, it has enough manouver space to allow for baggage loading and unloading. The hotel has no restaurant, but there is a quite good one next door.

For inside the town's wall, the hotel is well-positioned for outside parking. You are allowed to drive inside the wall to offload your luggage, then you must move your vehicle to a parking lot outside. In the morning from your hotel window you get a wonderful close-up view of the town coming to life. All in all, this is a great place to stay!

A really good location for the centre of this vibrant town. Very close to the main Piazza and numerous resteraunts. The hotel is well designed with a stylish yet comfortable feel. Very good value.

My only complaint was with street noise on the cobbled street. If I returned I would ask for a room on the backside of the hotel as to reduce street noise.

While Volterra is a quiet charming city during the day, there was alot of late night traffic noise as merchants apparently stocked there wares for the next buisness day.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The room was very well appointed and the staff very helpful. Only point I would mention is that there was no restaurant attached to the hotel. Half board people had to go to a restaurant in the centre of town. I would imagine this would be slightly inconvenient and was not mentioned in the literature about the hotel. Not an issue for us though as we were b&b only and the choice of restaurants in Volterra are excellent.

Nice people. Nice place. Tad noisy, but thats because the street is old and narrow, with a bit of echo, and, as ever proper Italians drive Vespas and Apes. So its Italian, and generally what you would expect. Would go again.

The only negative was the smell in the breakfast room on the main floor. I do not think that the hotel had control over that because I believe it was eminating from outside the hotel. My guess was sewer gas, resulting from renovation next door or just the fact that it is an medieval walled town.
