This was our first visit to Bergamo and we are eager to return. We were happy with our accommodations at the Piemontese. We would have liked to know before arrival that there is no area at all to park or even pull over to unload the car, which makes it difficult to check in when arriving by car.

The only problem with this hotel was the shower in the room was very poor -low water pressure and the shower cubicle had obviously leaked over many months and was in a very unhealthy state. Other than this the hotel was in a very good location and very good value for money.

The hotel is just opposite the railway station so it is very convenient. Especially if you are leaving the luggage at the hotel and later travel by rail to other cities. It is also very easy to get there from the airport by bus. The concierge speaks excellent English and is helpful. The left luggage place is just a room next to the breakfast room and it is not locked. We did not left any valuables there so it worked okay for us.

The hotel is just across the road from the main station for onward travel to Milan or the Lakes. The airport bus and the Number 1 to the old town go from the station. However we asked for a quiet room but were given one overlooking a junction where the noise was so bad that the double glazing could not cope. We deliberately picked this hotel because it was next to station and ideal for the airport shuttle (easier to stay in Bergamo than get to Milan very late given Ryanair landing time). Our double room overlooked the rush-hour traffic and station entrance,and would have been too noisy etc without the (excellent) double glazing and shutters which were great in Feb but might be unpleasant in summer. Nothing special about the hotel - no character. At first I thought the bedcoverings might not be warm enough, but actually they were. However staff were very efficient and charmingly helpful, indulged me when I tortured their beautiful language,helped me make a phonecall when the mobile wouldn't work, kept the luggage until the evening after checkout (essential!), and not only put in water in the room the bouquet sent by an elderly friend to the hotel but kept it in water on checkout day and helped me prepare it for the journey home. The one disappointment was the absence of tea/coffee facilities in the room. The public restaurant attached to the hotel did good pizza (and was actually recommended by an Italian on the bus). Hotel breakfast was plentiful,though juice was obviously from concentrate. Reasonably priced mini-bar and a free safe. The hotel is perfect for the station and also for the local buses. Get rover ticket at the kiosk in the station and take route 1 to Funicolare, to reach the Alto Borgo by funicular, or stay on bus to Colle Aperto for the higher funicular. Route 1 with an aeroplane sign goes to Orio e Serio. You can get a day rover + one-way to airport. Cheap!

The stay my friend and I had in Bergamo was absolutely fantastic, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The ease of travel from airport to the hotel on the bus costing E1.65 and taking 15 minutes was ideal. Bus stop is outside the railway station so no difficulty in recognising where to get off. The hotel being right across from the railway station for ease of travel to either Venice, Lake Como or Milan was ideal. The walk to the old city is on the flat and takes about 15 minutes depending on how long you spend taking in the buildings/churches/shops on the way. The cable car is only E1 each way for both sections and must be done. The breakfast is excellent and available times very generous. The reason the room only scored 5 for quietness is not due to the fact that we were looking over the railway station but the antics of the occupants in the bedroom next door until the early hours of the morning! Indeed we were very happy with our view and people watching from the safety of the 4th floor. The restaurant next door is excellent for quality, service, value and convenience. The Tourist Information Centre is also across the road with all the facts and times (bus or railway) you need to know to organise your stay. I would put this trip as the best city break I have had and I have had quite a few. I am recommending it to anyone who has the time to listen Oh yes, the bar wasn't open but as there are plenty in the town no hardship there. Also fridge in room and supermarket round corner so we bought bottles of Spumante at E1.45 and chilled it in the fridge for refreshment whilst we were getting ready to go out in the evening. Also took a travel kettle, cups and latte coffee sachets so we could have a drink before we went down for breakfast. In a nutshell, if you don't enjoy this holiday and hotel you shouldn't travel!

Having stayed at other Bergamo hotels several times, we found the Piemontese to be a good cheaper alternative to many of the others. Rooms were clean; buffet breakfast was good. We would stay here again.

The hotel is located across the street from the train station, and about 10 minutes to the airport by taxi. The staff was very helpful getting us a 04:20 taxi and recommending a couple of authentic restaurants close by. For those less adventureous, there is a McDonalds across the street from the hotel. The hotel is 10 minutes away from a nice walking street, and there are many wonderful coffee shops and bakeries within a few blocks. The rooms were very spacious, clean and quiet. The only thing I did not like was paying 130 Euro for a three star hotel, but Piemontese was still less expensive than other comparable hotels I looked at. As long as Piemontese remains a cost effective hotel to stay at, I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this hotel to you.

I was satisfied with my stay at Piemontese, because it is settled near bus- and trainstation, the restaurants nearby offered very good food, it was easy to come downtown and to Bergamo alto, people were friendly and helpfull. Only at night the traffic noise was too loud.

The taxi was 15 euros from the hotel. There was a bus that would have been cheaper, but did not run early enough. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and pleasant, and the service felt professional and efficient. We enjoyed our stay, and the breakfasts! Although the hotel is not in the most picturesque location it is perfect for connecting to the airport, and for day trips to Milan (trains only go once an hour at the weekend so time it right). There were also some great cafés nearby. Bergamo was a lovely place for a long weekend break - we headed towards the parks and the peaceful Carrara Art Gallery (would recommend a visit if this is your thing, it has a great collection on the top floor), and the atmosphere and squares were just as nice to wander around as the old town - although the views from the Citta Alta are great and well worth the walk (or ride) up, as was all the amazing ice cream and food. If you want somewhere different, cheap and offbeat to get some food, visit the cooperative restaurant and bar in Citta Alta (it's listed in the Rough Guide) - we had a good meal and a great time there.

I was there one night in August 2007. The hotel was in front of train station so it was perfect for us that arrived by train. Besides, there is the bus stop departure to airport. I flew into Bergamo late at night after midnight and stayed at the Piemontese at Bergamo due to it's location to the station, which was excellent. However I found the rooms really a bit tumble down - it would be rated "no star" in England rather than the three given. However it was clean and the breakfast was above average by Italian standards (which I rate as very low). The shower was excellent. I have stayed in Bergamo before at the best western down the road which was excellent, unlike this one which was poor. WIth hind sight I wished I had braved the post midnight journey to Milan and stayed somewhere decent and cheaper like the Hotel City. I would say in general all station areas in Italy are squalid and attract the worst type of people. Bergamo is no exception to this rule.

This hotel is better than I thought it would be. It is more of a 'businessman's' hotel than a resort, of course, but that is just what we wanted. The location across the street from the train station was great. I wish they had been able to keep our luggage in a locked area after checkout time, but they were able to direct us to the nearby bus station for locked storage and immaculate restrooms while we toured the town more after checking out. Breakfast was very good. The room was quite adequate and the bathroom very nice. A nearby park (behind the bus station) was the only negative: it was scary. The Piemontese is a reasonably priced, medium quality hotel well located opposite the railway station in Bergamo. The rooms are reasonably clean and spacious and the decor a little run down. The public areas are fairly basic consising of a narrow reception area and a breakfast room in the basement of the hotel; there is no bar. The adjoining restaurant is under separate management and is not part of the hotel despite sharing the same name. Breakfast is a cold buffet and is adequate.

I was part of a party of 7 who required three separate rooms and were concerned that we may have problems with booking online. However the reverse was true and even when we had to make a change to the booking it was dealt with efficiently without a hitch.All 7 of us would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Piemontese Hotel.It is very clean and comfortable and provides an excellent breakfast.The hotel is in an excellent location, the only problem with this being that it can be noisy. We stayed in the hotel in March which meant that air conditioning was not yet operational. As the room could become too warm we were unable to open windows as the traffic noise would make sleep difficult.My advice to anyone wanting to go out of season is to ask for a room that does not overlook the Main Street.Apart from this we had a very enjoyable stay both in the hotel and Bergamo itself.Grazie.

Excellent breakfast. 15 minutes walk to Funicular station for Cite Alta (fabulous - try a chilled white wine sitting in the warm sunshine of the main square - in February!!!). Would certainly stay at the Piemontese next time we visit Bergamo!!

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in mid-January, we arrived close to midnight and reception was open and very helpful (it is open 24 hours apparently). We had asked for 2 rooms together as our children were not keen to be too far away but unfortunately although the hotel confirmed that they had received this request we were allocated rooms at opposite ends of the same floor. They do have rooms that can interconnect and offered to move us in the morning which in the end we didn't need. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast is in a large basement room, accessed via a lift or spiral staircase. Good breakfast selection with continental choices and cereal. Rooms are a little oldfashioned in decor but very comfortable and clean, and equipped with wifi. Directly opposite the train station and with a big sign, so very easy to find. There is a pizzeria restaurant attached to the hotel which looked nice although we had made plans already to eat elsewhere. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would use the hotel again.

My wife and I found that the location is both a blessing and a problem. Accessibility from either the airport or by train is easy. But that means it is in a very noisy location. We were also given a room which was right by the lift shaft. As we were only there for two nights, this was not such a hardship, and also access to the best bits of Bergamo were equally as easy. But the place needs a bit of a spruce up - for example, the shower leaked onto the floor (quite dramatically!) But I would recommend it as a decnet enough place for the price we paid. And the breakfast was great.

The desk clerk was extremely welcoming. When we had not found the parking lot in about 5 minutes, she came out to see if we were ok. Without requesting we were moved to a larger room on the second night of our stay. The hotel was well located, close to the train station, central area and finicular to the Upper City. We both found it was an excellent stay. The restaurant next door is also an excellent choice for a full meal or pizza; reasonable in price and very good service.

The hotel was extremely busy and a bit impersonal. They were too busy to be helpful or friendly. The room was in good order. The breakfast is fine but one should not leave it to the last minute. It was very awkward that we could not get breakfast at 7 a.m. on the Sunday morning when we were flying home on an early flight. I have diabetes and need a b/fast in the morning especially when travelling. They would not budge on this issue. Otherwise this hotel is a good choice for location and is very convenient for travelling. Its also a nice walk into both Bergamo Basso and Alto. I really liked Bergamo and would stay again.

We were in transit and wanted to stay close to the train station to catch a train the next morning and this hotel offered right next to the train station. But the price/quality of the hotel was poor. I think the price was too high for a triple room which we booked for a family with little kids. In general the room was clean but very small. We stayed the next days for the same price in a 5 star hotel with much better quality and service but in different location as we were in transit. I would only recommend this hotel if you must stay close to train station and in transit for short stay. Breakfast was normal as typical 3star hotel offers. The only one small elevator does not seems to be working very well(or working but very very slow) and had to carry all the bags from 3floor. We did not have much time to review other features of the hotel as we arrived very late evening and left early next morning..

This hotel was ideal as a stopover after flying into Bergamo airport for Milan. It enabled us to settle in somewhere quickly after a late flight and also to have a look around the town of Bergamo before moving on. The hotel is directly opposite the train station and so very easy to get to / locate. The rooms were spacious for this type of hotel and there was the bonus of a shower that was seperate from the en suite meaning that the shower cubicle was huge - not something you often see in Italian hotels. The hotel is a moderate walk from the funicular station up to the Cita Alta and public transport in the area is frequent and cheap with the bus from the airport costing 1.60 euro and the 1 hour train journey to Milan costing approx 4 euros. The hotel also has a restaurant next door which served some of the nicest pizza we have had and at the cheapest cost - 3 course meal with wine for 20 euros each. The hotel breakfast room is in the basement and the buffet style breakfast has a suitable array of foods. The hotel has a fairly early check out time but a room was available for us to leave luggage until we moved on. Everyone at the hotel seemed to be staying for only 1 or 2 nights but I feel this is more to do with the limitations of Bergamo rather than the hotel. I would stay here again.

We booked room at rear of hotel as we had read on this website that the rooms at the front were noisey. We also telephoned to confirm room and were again told they had given us a room on the back When we arrived they said all rooms on back of hotel were taken and so we were put into a dingy room on front of hotel which was very noisey. we did complain but the hotel was full, so we could not be moved to a better room. we asked for a discount for the inconvenience but they refused. Hotel very expensive for what it is , but it seems most places in Bergamo are priced higher than other parts of Italy . Overall- very average hotel but great location.

I asked if we could have the same room as our previous stay and we got it - nice view to the mountains and old town. The only problem I have with this hotel is that the walls are very thin and you can hear everything when you have people who aren't very considerate of their fellow guests! Apart from this I would def recommend this hotel to anyone and will probably stay again next year when visiting for the F1.

excellent hotel for a stopover from bergamo airport, situated at the beginning of the nice part of the new town (1800s). distance to old town on the hill: appr 30 minutes, but makes a very nice walk!

Viajamos al norte de Italia para visitar varias ciudades; Milan Bergamo Verona , incluso Venecia. Nos alojamos en este hotel, y la verdad es que estuvimos encantados. Las habitaciones están muy bien. La estación de tren muy cerca, y sin embargo no hay casi ruido.

we had a meal in the hotel restaurant which was quite good, the breakfast was adequate but spoiled by the coffee which was horrible. most of the staff were friendly and helpful except one male receptionist who virtually ignored us. the location of the hotel was excellent for the nearness of the bus and rail stations and a five minute walk from the town centre. we would certainly use this hotel again if in this area of Italy.

Directly opposite railway syation so ideal as stopover from airport. Pizza restaurant next door but unfortunately it was closed on the two Wednesday nights we were there. Very good value for money and the Citta Alta is well worth visiting.

Hotel was easy to find opposite the station and ideal for the bus to Bergamo airport. The Hotel also sold bus tickets from Reception.

It is a very nice hotel. I stayed at Piemontese 2 years ago, and as I knew the hotel was good and near the railway station I decided to stay there this time too, as I arrived late and had to go by train the next day.

This was the first time at Hotel Piemontese and I was accompanied by friends from the US. I had booked two double rooms but was allocated a twin and a double which was a little disapointing. The hotel was clean and ideally situated to meet our short stay requirements. Breakfast was well presented and adequate for our needs. The location of the hotel was perfect as it was a short taxi ride from the Belgamo Airport (15 euro) and very convenient for trains and buses with which to explore the cities and lakes of this beautiful provence.

the room was not ready when we arrived at 1.30h. this was unsatisfying and the people at the reception were not very friendly to us. the room was normal, quite although located to the street and it was very clean. the breakfast was the one of best which we had during our 2 weeks trip through Italy ( 8 hotels), e.g. good rolls which is a big exeption in Italy. we found the rate for the room was very high and we had cheaper rooms e.g. in Firenze with a better standard and much more friendly stuff. the near to the railway station and to the bus to the airport is very convenient.

El hotel en general no esta mal, pero me parece caro para unos 90 euros por noche. La habitación no dispone de ningún lujo y el cuarto de baño necesita de una reforma. La situación es mejorable, está céntrico, pero no en el centro.

Hotel was just what we were expecting. A good place to stay as its just across the road from the Railway & Bus Station. Not far to walk to the Fenicular to go to the Old City - which is absolutely beautiful. The breakfast in the hotel was wonderful - everything was fresh and a good assortment of meat, cheese, cakes, fruit juice etc. If I was to return I would definitely stay there again. Milan is only 50 minutes by train and so is Lecco at Lake Como. Worth visiting.
