Location is very near to the train station and it's 15min walk to the main town centre. The rooms were really nice, clean and spacious since it was a family room. What disappoints me is the service attitude by one of the hotel staff. He was just plain rude. Afterall, I've read good reviews on this hotel thus decided to stay. Seems that the reviews were not very accurate. In short, rooms were good, convenient location for the price you pay. Except it's best that you ignore the hotel staff to prevent you from getting upset.

This is a really good base to stay in Blois and is extremely good value. The staff were friendly, and we were allowed to leave our rented bicycles in a corner of the foyer. The breakfast is excellent and saw us through the day. There is a beautiful Hotel Cat who occasionally deigns to speak to the visitors if he is addressed in French.

Extremely convenient location. A nice atmosphere, friendly owners, good English speaking. A nice breakfast. Hotel good for both a one day and a longer stay. The only inconvenience: no elevator and steep spiral stairs, quite inconvenient when you carry a bigger case.

Our group of 6 adults stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. One of the rooms had black mold on the bathroom ceiling, so we asked for another room. The only other vacant room also had black mold in the bathroom, and it smelled of mold. The other 2 rooms we used were satisfactory and clean, although somewhat small. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast choices were some of the best we experienced during our week of biking in the Loire Valley.

The hotel is located directly in front of the train station which we did not know when booking. Bring earplugs. The owner was rather unhelpful, however, his wife was more helpful. Norestaurants of any meaning were open Sunday night but that is not usual in France.

Abbiamo soggiornato all'hotel Saint-Jacques per 3 notti e siamo stati molto soddisfatti.

This place is perfect for someone without a car.One block from train.Blois is a great base for Loire and there are many excellent restaurants within five blocks.I recommend the Rouge Banquete (spelling) and the place near there on the corner with the exposed timbers.

Two nights with my wife for a quick tour of the Loire Valley chateux, convenient access from the train station (5 min walk). If you rent an Avis car (as SNCF has a relationship with them) for pickup/dropoff at the train station you should try to confirm because they didn't have my credit card info and picked me up to their office but charged extra for it. Anyway, the hotel was clean and staff was helpful though not "warm". Chateau Blois is about a 15 minute walk away. Our room was on the 2nd floor (which means 3rd floor for those from the US), no elevator.

Noisy because of rail nearby, however main station directly across the road and castle within 5 minutes walk. Room and bathroom were clean with exception of spots on the fitted carpet. Spacious for one person with good price/quality relationship. The stairs were o.k. for me - however I live near the Netherlands and stairs are much steeper there.

Great location to train station and 'easy' walk around the city. No phone available in room to outside calling--pay phone by train station. Wireless internet in hallway/ stairwell. Owner/operators rather cold, uninviting. They are living and raising young children there--we felt like we were interrupting their lives as we came and went during the day and evening. We just slept there, spending the days visiting the beautiful and historic area. Very simple clean accommodations and we felt safe. All in all, you get what you pay for.

The hotel is situated just adjacent to station. The noise problem mentioned by some people here does exist but not to that extent that you don't get sleep. I managed to get a good sleep. Even though the hotel is away from main attractions, the city itself is small and distance is easily walkable. Also being close to station means it's easy to visti other towns in Loire vally. The staff was good. However the passages were not well lighted and caused some problem. In general this was a good stay for the price offered.

This was a very relaxed comfortable place. The train noise that someone else wrote about was NOT worth writing about. If I hadn't known the sound was a train, I would have thought it was a gust of wind. No elevator and NO open restaurants were a problem for our Monday evening arrival. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone as long as they knew about the stairs and the restaurant issue.

Generally very nice but stairs steep and no lift. No door on toilet/bathroom. A minor inconvenience for a family perhaps. I don't know if all rooms were the same.

Nice staff, nice surroundings and a very good quality-price relationship. Just one remark. The hotel is next to the railwaystation, with according loud passings of (high-speed)trains. You should mention this. It was not a big problem for us, we slept through it all. It is certainly a reccomendable hotel!

Excellent choice for travellers on a budget. Clean, courteous employees, OK location albeit very close to the railway station. Don't leave without earplugs :)
