If you want a real Spanish experience (presumably that's why you choose Spain!), try Hotel Colon. An 'internal' room will guarantee quietness. Ana Romero particularly helpful. Only snag is finding somewhere to park, but it's so cheap on the road and we found the traffic wardens helpful. Have fun.

if you have any plans to stay in Malaga, you should do better do stay in Antequera because of teh surroundings and the advantages a smaller city can offer you than a bigger and more noisy city. If you have a car with you: it is only 50 km from Malaga... Bathrooms are very clean and are almost new I think... It is a pitty that the staff is not that well-known with the English language.. but they try very hard to make themselves understood... and if you don't speak any spanish it would not be a problem at all to stay there because of their efforts they make...

We found this to be an extremely good value for money hotel in a very pleasant little town about a quarter of the way between Malaga and Seville. Hotel Colon was a nice little Spanish hotel similar to others I have stayed in, where, although we did not speak the same languge, we were able to communicate with staff adequately. It was a pleasant surprise to find that our room had air-conditioning, although it also had glass along the wall which meant that some light shone in at night when someone switched on the time delay light in the corridor. The bed, however, was very comfortable and helped us get a good sleep. The bathroom was basic, but clean. I note another reviewer described the hotel as dirty - we must disagree - we found it very clean. We really enjoyed our stay, and we would go back.

The hotel was very funny decorated, all kind of (old) photographs and trinkets. Probably is this also the reason why the hotel was not very clean.

As we were arriving at Malaga airport at night, it was not my intention to book a hotel in Antequera. From the web page 'Hotels in Malaga' where I found Hotel Colon I assumed it was in Malaga city not the region. Despite this unfortunate oversight (possibly mine) the hotel was fine. We only stayed a very short night so I can't comment much.After booking I was charged by mistake in advance but this was sorted after exchanging some friendly e-mails.

Do not expect a modern hotel, on the contrary. The rooms are clean and ok, and it is nice that you have to walk through several corridors and levels before you reach the room. These corridors are packed with old furniture and paintings, whihc is nice.

Although the price paid for the room was cheap, I felt that it was only worth that price.The room furniture was grubby and covered in dust and the storage space provided for clothes was totally inadequate.The free internet service was useful and the staff were helpful but the poor chambermaid service and daily cleaning of the room was disappointing.

Friendly people, very good located, only thing was that they tried to ask more then was offered on the internet.( €35.- instead of the offered € 30.--) However after I said this this was no problem and the woman corrected it.

Very noisy. One night there was a commotion outside the room by guests returning at the early hours, making sleep impossible. No breakfast facilities. Bathroom standard very poor.

In spite of the language barrier we were made to feel very welcome at this quaint little hotel. Perhaps some indication as to the distance from the airport should be given at the web site. As a foreigner we thought that Malaga indicated the city when, in fact, it referred to the province or territory. We were faced with a large taxi bill.

the hotel colon is not in malaga but in antequera, a small village 90kms from malaga.... the hotel is very cheap (32 euro) but the heating was not working at it was a real problem

We found this to be a charming hotel in a beautiful small town, Antequera (not in Malaga city, but an hour by bus) in the mountains. The hotel had all the facilities one requires for a restful and relaxing holiday. It has a great location close to the old town, as well as all the shops and restaurants. I have no hesitation in recommending it to visitors who want to experience the 'real' Spain!
