Holme Street House is a picturesque Grade 2 listed 18th century Georgian farmhouse set in 10 acres of land. It is peaceful and secluded, with views to the front over its own pastureland, and to the side and rear over delightful gardens. The tended gardens extend to over 2 acres, and contain lawns, many different sitting areas, herb and vegetable gardens, orchard, and outdoor heated swimming pool (May-Sept) and changing room area. The swimming pool is in its own separate area which can be closed off for safety with small children. The field, sometimes grazed by sheep, can be walked through and leads to a small lake. The village of Pulborough is a 15 minute walk along the lane, or through the field, and has a small Co-op, two excellent butchers and a greengrocer (who often stock locally grown and raised organic produce), post office, wine shop and chemist. There are also two supermarkets within a 5 minute drive of the house. The pub at the end of the lane (3 minute walk) serves delicious warming meals in winter and barbecues in summer, as well as great pizzas on a Sunday evening! There are pretty walks which can be done from the house, some with wonderful views over the South Downs, and it is only a 15 minute drive up onto the Downs themselves. In Pulborough there is a RSPB bird sanctuary, Pulborough Brooks, which provides more walking in a picturesque setting, as well as the opportunity to see the many interesting birds of that area. Other nearby attractions are Parham House, the Weald and Downland Museum and Amberley Working Museum. The area also has several productive vineyards, where it is possible to tour and sample/buy locally produced wine. Petworth, with its antique shops, stately home and large park is a 10 minute drive away. Arundel is a lovely town with a castle and Wildfowl Trust, and is a 20 minute drive away. Chichester is a half hour drive from the house, and has a famous cathedral, festival theatre, muliplex cinema, bowling, butterfly centre and harbour tours. There are several Roman ruins in the area, including Bignor Roman Villa, and Fishbourne Roman Palace. Littlehampton with its beaches, funfair and shops is half an hour away, and the lovely beach at West Wittering is about 40 minutes away. For those who enjoy racing, car and horse racing can be enjoyed at Goodwood, and horse racing at Fontwell.

The house itself is spacious and comfortable, with many original features. It is very well equipped and beautifully furnished, having been our family home. There is a good supply of family games, toys and books available for guests' use. The large entrance hall and kitchen/breakfast room have original York stone flooring, and the kitchen is well equipped with Aga, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, sitting area with rocking chair. The sitting room is spacious and tranquil, with an open fire, baby grand piano, french door to garden. The dining room is a beamed room with seating for up to 12. The family room is light and airy with french doors to patio, TV/video/DVD player, football table, woodburning stove and double sofa-bed. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath, the other with a washbasin. There are two further double bedrooms, both with Zip and link twin beds, one with washbasin. The bedrooms are amply big enough to take the cot and travel cot which are also available. There is also a family bathroom with power shower over the bath, WC and washbasin.
Please note - due to age the floors are somewhat uneven with steps into some of the ground floor rooms, and the washing machine is located in the cellar (down stone stairs off the hallway).
