Quiet village location
Hidden behind the plain 17th century lakeland exterior, lies this unique gem of a cottage. It has exposed beams, a superb cast iron range, a 17th century stone bread oven and a winding stone staircase, together with modern comfort.
This delightful terraced cottage was the birthplace in 1766 of John Dalton, founder of the atomic theory. Extremely quiet and peaceful, it is very close to the boundary of the Lake District National Park with the lakes of Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere, within 10 miles by country lanes.
The market town of Cockermouth is 3 miles.
Shop 1.5 miles, pub 250 yards, restaurant 1 mile.
Lounge, kitchen/diner, utility room, bathroom with shower over bath, toilet and basin. 2 bedrooms: 1 double with basin, 1 twin.
Gas central heating, open fire in lounge, all fuel and power included in rent, bed linen included in rent, cot, highchair, colour TV, video, DVD player, radio, stereo/CD player, outdoor furniture, garage parking for 1 car, on street parking. Sorry, no pets. No smoking, please. NB: There is a winding stone staircase and low ceilings at the property.
