The village owes its name to the Fitzpaine family of 14th century lords. The cottage has the benefit of a spacious kitchen, many of the original beams remain throughout, and there is still the large inglenook fireplace. To the rear is a glazed sun trap conservatory overlooking the pretty garden. There are many interesting places to visit nearby, historic Blandford Forum, 7 miles, which is a Georgian town of chequered brick and stone. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
