Springholm is a lovely, quirky, terraced holiday cottage situated in the beautiful village of Bootle, on the west coast of the Lake District National Park. Built in 1757, Springholm has been used as a home and carpenter’s workshop before being re-converted in 1991. Bootle is one of the oldest and smallest market towns in Britain, with a population of about 700. The market charter was granted in 1348 by King Edward III. Springholm looks out onto the fells and there is easy access to Bootle Fell, Corney Fell, Birker Fell and Black Combe. The stunning high fells around Wasdale - including Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England - are just 15 miles away. Roman ruins and light railway at Ravenglass estuary are 8 miles away, Muncaster Castle and World Owl Sanctuary, 7 miles. Eskmeals beach is 1 mile, other good beaches at Haverigg and Silecroft.
