Visit some of the local craft shops in Alston or have a ride on Alston's own narrow gauge railway - the highest in England. It is also very central and makes reaching areas like the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, Newcastle, The Metro Centre and Roman Wall possible within 1 hour's drive.
