W436 is also a spacious character cottage with a French window to a well kept, beautifully landscaped garden with small ornamental pond, exclusively for holidaymakers' use. Built in 1747, it has open beams and oak panelling. The superb furnishings include an antique four poster bed. They provide an ideal base for walking with the Cheviot Hills, Harwood Forest, Kielder Forest and the Scottish Borders close by. 3 miles away at Belsay Hall with its 14th century Tower House, are magnificent grounds including a wooded park with lake, formal terraces and beautiful quarry garden. The historic house at Wallington (NT) is also 3 miles. Two miles north is Bolam Lake Country Park noted for its bird life. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles. Lounge/diner, kitchen, bathroom with toilet and basin, 1 double bedroom.
