Enjoying magnificent views over Loch Linnhe, Loch Eil and the mountains beyond, this fine Victorian house stands in a central, elevated position above the town centre of Fort William. The house has been restored to a very high standard, maintaining its period character and providing well furnished and fitted accommodation (S.T.B. `3 Star'). French doors from the kitchen and dining-room open on to a large enclosed paved area. There is a slide, playhouse and sand pit which provides plenty of fun for young children. To the front of the house there is a large enclosed garden with a path leading towards the town centre. Fort William makes an excellent holiday base all year round. The town itself provides ample facilities and there is easy access to the magnificent countryside, offering opportunities for many outdoor activities, including skiing, climbing and sailing. In the immediate area there is an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, lake, river and sea fishing to enjoy, as well as boat trips to see the seals. A 10-minute drive out of town, Glen Nevis is among the Highlands' most impressive glens: a glacial valley hemmed in by steep bracken-covered slopes and swaths of blue-grey scree. Herds of shaggy Highland cattle graze the valley floor, where a sparkling river gushes through glades of trees. This valley has been the location for scenes in several movies, such as Rob Roy and Braveheart. This is also an ideal touring base for the Highlands and Islands. Ben Nevis rises immediately behind the town, with Glencoe a short drive away, offering spectacular scenery. Day trips to the islands can be enjoyed from Oban. The Victorian resort of Oban enjoys a superb setting, distinguished by a granite amphitheatre, dramatically lit at night, on the hilltop above the town. Other attractions in the town include whisky tasting at the Oban Distillery, the ruins of Dunollie Castle and the Oban Rare Breeds Farm Park, ideal for children.
