In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, these four very comfortable cottages enjoy far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Laundry Cottage and Dunmore Bothy are both detached, single-storey cottages, whilst Stable Cottage, also single-storey, adjoins The Coach House, an impressive, 19th-century stone building retaining many of its original features. These smart colour co-ordinated properties have been furnished with rich luxury curtains and soft furnishing and each property has its own garden; visitors have access to a network of over 6miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese. Boat trips can be arranged to fish for brown trout, as well as angling on the River Tay, with some of Scotland's finest salmon fishing. At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village (3 miles) is one of Perthshire's gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes' drive. Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers - the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour.
A self-contained, single-storey property, adjoining The Coach House, renovated to a very high standard with countryside and mountain views from all rooms. Level access to hallway. Living room with open fire in traditional cast-iron fireplace and well-equipped modern fitted kitchen/dining area. Double bedroom with 5ftbed and additional connection beds (for +2, on request). Bathroom/W.C. with shower cubicle.
