Set in a remote glen, with wonderful views over the valley and surrounding mountains, this beautifully situated, period stone farmhouse enjoys 2½ acres of gardens and grounds, which include a pond and river frontage. Attractively and very comfortably furnished, Ballinloan offers exceptionally well-equipped, warm and welcoming accommodation. Much loved by those who know it, Glen Lyon is one of Scotland's longest and loveliest glens, boasting a variety of landscapes ranging from deep river gorges and rock pools, to gentle farmland and the dramatic peaks of Ben Lawers. Kenmore (15 miles), on the banks of Loch Tay, offers some of the best salmon fishing in Scotland, as well as boat hire, sandy beaches and nature trails. The beauty of Kenmore, especially the view from the bridge over the Tay, was immortalised by Robert Burns in a poem that now hangs in the Kenmore Hotel. Aberfeldy (18 miles) is a charming town on the Tay, notable for the 400ft-long military bridge built in 1733 by General George Wade, the Irish overlord of the Highlands. Pitlochry (30 miles) is a popular, lively town boasting superb riverside, forest and mountain walks, Highland Games in early September, sheepdog trials and the famous Festival Theatre, as well as two famous whiskey distilleries. The Pitlochry Power Station and Dam is a massive concrete wall which harnesses the water of the man-made Loch Faskally for hydroelectric power. The visitor centre explains the whole process, and another attraction, apart form the views up the loch, is the salmon ladder, which the salmon leap up on their annual migration - a sight not to be missed. The Glengoulandie Deer Park, Castle Menzies, Rannoch Woodlands and the National Trust Centre at Killiecrankie are all easily accessible. Riding, golf and sports centre within 18 miles.
