A 15th-century building forms the nucleus of Il Pantano, a 100 hectare estate producing the renowned Vino Nobile of Montepulciano. The farmhouses scattered about the estate have been restored to create attractive, spacious apartments. All have good modern kitchens and excellent bathrooms and retain a typical Tuscan country flavour, with fireplaces, tiled floors and exposed beams. Estate fruit and vegetables can be picked freely by guests and on Sundays the estate offers a complimentary brunch and tour of the extensive wine cellars where lovers of wine can taste and buy directly from the estate cantina. Visit Montepulciano with its fine buildings and works of art, or Montefollonico with its walled town and frescoed church.
