Set over 3 levels, this spacious detached house provides wonderful views across the Mevagissey harbour - thronged with colourful boats - and out to sea. Its large patio is an ideal place in which to sit and relax with a glass of wine and maybe a barbecue - perhaps with the catch of the day available fresh from the quayside below. Superb beaches can be found at Pentewan and Portmellon approximately 2 miles away whilst a short walk leads to the centre of Mevagissey with its maze of narrow streets, bustling harbour and interesting variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. Fishing and boat trips can also be enjoyed during the season. To the south-west lies one of Cornwall's most beautiful coves, Hemmick Beach, an excellent swimming spot with rocky outcrops ideal for sunbathing. Visually even more impressive is Porthluney Cove, a crescent of sand whose centrepiece is the battlemented Caerhays Castle, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Portloe is a minuscule whitewashed village fronted by jagged black rocks that throw up fountains of seaspray, giving it a mystical atmosphere. Christmas and New Year are also popular here, with plenty of interesting activities and friendly local hospitality. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the biosphere domes of the exciting Eden Project are all easily accessible. To the south, beyond the cove of Portmellon is the low promontory of Chapel Point with its distinctive white houses designed in the 1930s by J A Campbell. St Mawes also proves popular with visitors; this secluded sleepy town has an attractive walled seafront lying below a hillside of villas and abundant gardens, and also boasts a small yet pristine castle which contains various exhibits on local history.
