The epitome of an English Country Cottage, this beautiful house and adjacent lodge stand detached on the edge of the picturesque thatched village of Wickhambreaux. Located within peaceful and tranquil grounds, each property oozes character, with a wealth of beams and wood panelling throughout. The main cottage dates back to circa 1660 and features a sumptuous drawing room with cosy open fire in inglenook, as well as a light and spacious kitchen/dining area. Together the two properties form spacious accommodation for large families or friends holidaying together. The conservatory/games room and the large lawned garden are just perfect for keeping the children amused whilst the adults relax with a good book and a glass of wine.
Memory House is ideally situated for exploring historic Canterbury. With history spanning two thousand years, the city offers an attractive traffic-free centre ringed by ancient walls, a magnificent cathedral and abbey, and a wide variety of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, including the famous Canterbury Tales. Day trips to France are possible via the Channel Tunnel or ferry from Dover, and the designer outlet shopping centre at Ashford makes for a fun detour en route to the ferry! For children, John Aspinall’s renowned Howletts Zoo, as well as a selection of sandy beaches, can be found within 20 minutes. Whitstable is also popular for days out – in particular for its oysters. Alternatively there are a number of castles to explore in the region, including Henry VIII’s castles at Deal and Walmer. Golf, riding and pleasant walks locally._The main house: Beamed, oak-panelled drawing room with open fire in inglenook, leading to conservatory/games room. Large beamed dining-room with polished wooden floor, leading to open-plan well-equipped modern fitted kitchen with Aga and electric hob with electric oven, and living room with French doors to garden. Separate cloakroom/W.C. Two sets of steep stairs to first floor (one via living room): Double bedroom with 5ft bed and en-suite bathroom/W.C. with shower attachment. Two twin-bedded rooms, one with en-suite bathroom/W.C. with Victorian roll-top bath. Bathroom/W.C. with shower attachment. Some bedrooms beamed. The Lodge: Living room with sink, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, and sofa-bed (for +2 children). Beamed twin-bedded room with piano and en-suite bathroom/W.C.
