Dating back to the 17th-century and enjoying a secluded position, this delightful farmhouse boasts its own enclosed, pretty garden. This spacious and character-filled property is surrounded by the owners' 700-acre farmland, beyond which are some stunning views towards Ashdown Forest. There are some wonderful walks within the estate, and Wickens Farmhouse is perfectly placed for visiting all of the historic attractions within this pretty area. Hever Castle, once the home to Anne Boleyn, is worth visiting to see the maze garden and the lovely Tudor village built around its moat - other properties noted for their connections with important figures and times in history include Chiddingstone Castle, Hammerwood Park, Knole House and Sissinghurst Gardens. The young (and the young at heart) will love Groombridge Place - with an interesting history since medieval times, their beautiful formal gardens are set against a backdrop of a moat and 17th-century manor house - within the grounds lies the Enchanted Forest, where magic and fantasy await. Guests have use of the owner's heated outdoor swimming-pool and tennis court from June to August, at Falconhurst 1 mile away. Tennis, squash, badminton and swimming are also available in Edenbridge, a three-mile drive away, and there is a good choice of golf courses locally. Excellent riding across the vast heaths of Ashdown Forest, and lake fishing within a 20-minute drive. For cosmopolitan days out, London is easily reached by train, and the sandy and shingle shores of popular Brighton are an hour's drive. Pub 1mile.
