Thatch, beams, brick and flint - the best ingredients for the perfect English Country Cottage - are combined in this secluded retreat. Dating from the 17th century, Cleeve Cottage is a rambling property in the best rural tradition, and is peacefully set down a sloping unmade and rough bridle path (suitable for ordinary cars, but negotiate with care!), away from other houses and roads. The setting is magnificent - in its own delightful garden with croquet, badminton and garden furniture; and surrounded by some 12 acres of rolling woodland and chalk downs, part of which is classified by the Nature Conservancy Council as a Site of Special Scientific Interest . Fascinating rare flowers, birds, deer and foxes can be seen and miles of wonderful walks start from the doorstep. A haven of peace and tranquility in itself - yet also an ideal base for exploring an area rich in places of interest. Lambourn (3 miles) is the home of many famous racing stables and has good local shops. Hungerford (5 miles) offers antique shops, restaurants, riverside walks, boating and fishing. There is a superb swimming-pool, a sports centre and a cinema in Swindon, 10 miles away. Reading is within easy reach, and boasts a flourishing arts scene. The two music festivals are the main attraction - the three-day WOMAD festival, held every July, is a celebration of World Music Arts and Dance, and the Reading Festival features many big names of contemporary music. Very easy access to Heathrow, London, Bristol and Bath, with major road routes only 4 miles away. Entrance hall with cloakroom/W.C. Very attractive, comfortable, beamed living room with wood-burning stove in enormous inglenook fireplace. A small `snuggery' has a three-quarter table tennis table with small snooker table beneath as well as many games, books and information about the wildlife, flowers and facilities of the area. Ground floor has rugs on wooden floor. Magnificent, well-equipped modern fitted kitchen with large table, quarry-tiled floor and door to garden. Small lobby with automatic washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer. Two staircases lead to the first floor: Four attractive bedrooms; two double (one with extra divan for +1), one twin-bedded and one single.
