This charming, 18th-century cottage (centre of photograph) and its small garden are set in a peaceful hamlet, 3 miles from the old lead mining centre of Middleton-in-Teesdale (with supermarket, shops). There are superb views and glorious walks from the doorstep, easy access to open moors and the chance to see blue gentians. Next door is where Robert Watson, the `Teesdale Poet', once lived and 1/4 mile away is a pub serving food. Nearby are the picturesque Low Force Falls, the Pennine Way, High Force (England's highest waterfall) and a Nature Reserve. Within easy reach are Raby Castle, Bowes Museum, Cow Green Reservoir, Beamish Museum, Durham Cathedral and the Lakes.
