In a magnificent rural setting, with fabulous views of the Skiddaw mountain range, magnificent sunsets over the Solway Firth, and the hills of Galloway across the border, these most comfortable holiday properties enjoy shared use of a large and colourful garden and were winners of the Keswick Tourism Association Country Establishments in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and the Cumbria in Bloom Tourist Board Rose Bowl for Self Catering Establishment winners in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Rose Cottage is attached to the owner's farmhouse home; Rambling Rose Cottage and Rosedale Cottage are adjacent and were both recently converted to a high standard, whilst Primrose Cottage has been converted from a former byre and stands in a courtyard which is bedecked with flower tubs, window boxes and hanging baskets. All the holiday cottages have been beautifully furnished and equipped to offer very attractive accommodation. All fitted and equipped to ETC `4 Star' standard. Guests will enjoy the friendly rare breeds sheep, pot bellied pigs, goats, and ponies (including a miniature shetland pony called Mirabelle and her foal) and visitors are welcome to walk in the fields surrounding the farm (a red squirrel has been spotted in the grounds), as well as the many public footpaths nearby. This 500-acre farm is set in an AONB, with superb fell walking nearby. The pretty market town of Keswick stands on the shores of Derwent Water and makes an excellent base from which to explore delightful Borrowdale. There are many interesting walks as well as more strenuous hikes for the more experienced walker. In the town itself there are many interesting shops, inns and restaurants and an entertaining motor museum showcasing many of the cars from stage and screen. Just 6 miles away Bassenthwaite Lake offers a variety of watersports. Within easy reach are the beautiful lakes of Derwent Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere, surrounded by Lakeland's dramatic scenery. There is tennis, riding and golf in the area, as well as good fishing locally and excellent bird watching from the farm, as well as the chance to spot the occasional red squirrel and deer, whilst it is a short drive to Osprey Watch at Dodd Wood, Bassenthwaite. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants locally (including vegetarian), the nearest pub in Ireby is a 1½-mile drive away, and Uldale is 2 miles away, also with a pub serving good food.
