In a `picture postcard' setting beside the River Skirfare, in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, stands this spacious detached cottage. Riverdale is beautifully furnished and has landscaped gardens, perfect for moon-lit barbecues, that blend into extensive 6-acre grounds which provide total seclusion for guests, making this the ideal rural retreat from which to escape the pressures of modern day life. Stunning views over river and dale can be admired from many of the rooms, and walks beckon from the doorstep, whether it be a gentle stroll along the river bank or a bracing hike over the fells. Close by lies the village of Kilnsey, with its unusual glacially sculptured overhang of rock (Kilnsey Crag), which proves popular with climbers. The National Park information point at Kilnsey Park provides information on the Crag and the surrounding area, whilst a trout farm offers a wealth of interest for families with its conservation and nature trail, trout viewing and feeding areas, as well as fly fishing on two lakes. Geared for children as well, there is a fun-fishing area for the under twelves and an adventure playground. With an estate shop, restaurant and coffee shop on-site, a complete day out can be planned in conjunction with pony trekking at Conistone. Beyond Kilnsey, stunning scenery and wonderful views can be savoured at Littondale, where Pen-y-ghent looms in the background, and idyllic Arncliffe with its village green, church and pub is only a 20minute walk along the river and proves a popular refreshment point for walkers. West of Wharfedale, the limestone features of Malhamdale attract many visitors - Malham Cove, Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar acting as the magnets. Consisting of a sheer escarpment, crowned by a fractured pavement, there are also waterfalls and dry valleys to take in whilst walking in this awe-inspiring area. The traditional market towns of Skipton (with its well-preserved medieval castle) and Hawes (with Wensleydale Creamery and Ropemakers Museum) both make for pleasant days out. Grassington is a popular local village, easily accessible from Riverdale at only 8 miles, making a pleasant bike ride. Pub 1½miles.
