Situated in the heart of rolling Devonshire countryside, Ashcombe nestles in a peaceful valley close to the seaside resorts of Dawlish and Torquay and the stunning beaches at Teignmouth. Ashcombe's superbly appointed holiday cottages all have wonderful views over the hills and woodlands of the 2,500-acre agricultural estate, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Endeavour, a spacious farmhouse sleeping 14 people is situated at Woodhouse Farm adjacent to the remaining cottages - all skilfully converted barns. Careful landscaping has provided patios and lawns for both morning and afternoon sun and the properties border a pretty, grassed courtyard with a central fountain. There is an indoor heated swimming-pool with changing rooms as well as a shared hard tennis court. All holiday cottages are well decorated and equipped; most have Italian-tiled floors, oak-beamed ceilings, double glazing, full night storage heating and log fires or electric log-effect fires, with four-poster beds (except Gretel HXN, Beaver HBBG, Ranger HTW and The Cider Barn HGGL), and en-suite facilities in every cottage (except Beaver HBBG). Easily accessible from major routes and close to the end of the M5 motorway, Ashcombe is South Devon's countryside at its best, with deep secluded valleys and rolling tree-covered hills affording striking views stretching from the River Exe for miles along the impressive coastline. There is a multitude of picturesque villages with historic inns and curiosity shops, and always just around the corner lies somewhere to relax, and indulge in a delicious Devon cream tea! The sandy beaches at Dawlish and Teignmouth are a delight, and within a stone's throw is the drama of Dartmoor, a great wilderness of extremes, barren in some areas, lush in others, famous for its rocky tors and wild ponies. Golf can be found locally with courses at Teignmouth (2½ miles), Dawlish Warren (3½ miles) and Woodbury Common (12 miles). Sea and coarse fishing by arrangement. Situated adjacent to Ashcombe reception office, it is approximately 500 yards from the indoor swimming-pool at Woodhouse Farm. It has a small garden in front and a large lawn behind.
