Just a mile from the Blue Flag beach at Porthtowan, this spacious 18th-century cottage stands in attractive, mature gardens of ½acre. Commanding panoramic views over the surrounding area's peaceful landscape from its first floor windows, it is comfortable, well-furnished and boasts a games room with table tennis table and small snooker table. Close to a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the South West Coastal Footpath and the Devoran Tramway Trail, it is well-placed for exploring the many delights of Cornwall, by foot, bicycle, horseback or car. Far from isolated, it is just 2½miles from StAgnes, with its shops, restaurants, pubs and pottery centre, and there is a small touring park to one side, run by the owners. Truro is just an 8-mile drive away, where there is a good selection of shops and pubs, in addition to the County Museum and indoor market. Easily accessible is Portreath, a surfing beach that enjoys the cleanest water around. The village is within walking distance of the awe-inspiring Hell's Mouth - a mixture of waves and black rocks at the base of two-hundred-foot cliffs. There are many outdoor activities on offer locally including many good walks, tennis, horse riding (locally) and golf (in Tehidy, 3miles). This area of Cornwall is possibly best known for its excellent sailing, surfing and wind-surfing stretches of water, and there is a public swimming-pool at Carn Brea. Other interesting days out include visits to the extinct tin-mine workings that once dominated the area's landscape, and watching a play at the open-air Minack Theatre, Porthcurno. StIves 16miles.
