An inviting landscaped area surrounds an outdoor heated swimming-pool. Newham has its own cove and aprivate jetty which is ideal for estuary fishing and supplies mooring for a choice of hire boats and visitors' own craft. The farm was built in the 17th-century on the site of an even older mansion, and its setting in the beautiful and leafy Fowey Valley is a peaceful and perfect place for enjoying a Cornish holiday. The style of the furnishings enhances the appeal of this group of traditional barns which have been converted in a most attractive manner, providing high quality accommodation and making a pleasing feature of stone walls and exposed beams. Under the caring supervision of the resident owners, these delightful cottages have been refurbished and equipped to an exceptional standard, and awarded the E.T.C. `4Star' standard. Newham Farm is only a mile downstream from the fine restaurants and Cornish inns of historically fascinating Lostwithiel: in the 12th-century this friendly place was an important port and the largest exporter of tin in Europe. Just a mile north of the town, the circular keep of Restormel Castle perches almost too perfectly on its conical hill surrounded by a dry moat. Newham is an ideal centre from which to visit all parts of Cornwall, including the quaint fishing villages of Polperro, Looe and Mevagissey, close to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Lantic Bay (6miles) is cared for by the National Trust: besides the chance to see grey seals, it offers excellent coastal walks with wonderful views. Fine local beaches adjacent to Fowey Harbour, 4miles downstream and Carlyon Bay 8miles. Golf, tennis, squash, horse riding, sailing, water-skiing and sports centres all available locally.
