Commanding a peaceful and idyllic cliff-top position with panoramic sea views, this spacious and well-equipped house stands in its own large gardens. Set at the end of a 1/2-mile unmade lane, it enjoys views over the Atlantic and across Mounts Bay towards Penzance, and footpaths lead from just outside the garden gate down to Polurrian Cove , a quiet and secluded haven with good surfing. Other coves are just a short walk along a dramatic cliff-top - Mullion, with its granite-walled harbour and Poldhu, scene of Marconi's first transatlantic cable message. Col Ros is ideally situated for exploring the west of the county, with the Lizard Peninsula, Penzance, Falmouth and Truro all within easy access. The Lizard (5 miles), with its craggy cliff scenery to the west and wooded vales to the east, is a mecca for walkers, surfers and divers. Penzance (21 miles) is an ideal centre for touring Land's End and boasts the National Lighthouse Centre and Cornwall's only promenade. More local attractions include the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, famous for its air-sea rescue helicopters, and Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, 4 miles inland. Helston (6 miles) is an ancient market town built on two hills. In early May each year there is the world-famous festival, `Flora Day', with its colourful `Furry Dance', in which long lines of people with hands joined make their way through the flower-lined streets. Helston has Flambards theme park, with a reconstructed Victorian village, `Britain In The Blitz' street with wartime aircraft, rollercoaster rides, award-winning gardens and adventure playgrounds. Mullion has pubs serving food, or a short drive of 6 miles leads to Halzephron Cliff with its inn above Gunwalloe Church Cove - a 500-year-old smugglers' haunt with lovely views, and recommended by the Good Pub Guide and Egon Ronay Guide.
