King's Lynn which was once the country's fourth largest town in medieval times itself offers a handsome waterfront and medieval winding alleyways, where visitors can browse amongst a good selection of shops and dine in traditional inns. Historical houses abound in the region, with ruins to be found at nearby Castle Rising and Castle Acre. The Queen's country residence of Sandringham is open to the public (unless a member of the Royal family is in residence) and is just 11 miles away. The market towns of Fakenham and East Dereham are close by and well worth a visit. Excellent trout and coarse fishing nearby.
