It is an excellent centre for walking with access to the Fells directly from the garden. Ambleside, 3 miles, and Keswick, 12 miles, offer a full range of attractions and there are many historic houses and gardens locally. Grasmere, famous for Wordsworth and Dove Cottage, has a good selection of restaurants and shops. Access via sloping path to own entrance porch.
