Surrounded by majestic Lakeland scenery A large stone family holiday home, built around 1830 at the head of Lake Ullswater below Place Fell. Between Penrith (15 miles) and Ambleside (12 miles), you are surrounded by majestic Lakeland scenery. The poet Wordsworth bought the land on which Broad How now stands, thinking it the perfect place to build a house, though he never did. It stands in an acre of garden with lawns, shrubs and a wild area behind. Both the house and garden are family friendly, with toys, books, maps and guides. Patterdale lies on the coast to coast path and is an excellent centre for fell and valley walking. Broad How is half a mile from Lake Ullswater with its steamer service (April to October), sailing, rowing, swimming and fishing. For non-walkers there are many interesting places and small towns to visit. Shop, pub and restaurant 400 yards. Tennis court to hire in village.
