Situated on the Lindisfarne Reserves These truly unique and most charming former coastguard cottages stand in possibly the most idyllic and desirable location on the Northumberland coast. Nestled in the sand dunes in a sleepy hollow, on the Lindisfarne Nature Reserves, with views over the dunes to the sea and Lindisfarne Castle beyond. Heather Cottages are reached by a private road and these cosy cottages are the superb location for a family holiday or for those seeking a secluded romantic location. Explore the miles of sandy beaches, some of the most outstanding coastal scenery in the country, attractive fishing villages, little seaside resorts and many dramatic castles. The 40 mile stretch of coast has been officially recognised as both a Heritage Coast and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Attractions include the massive remains of Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh Castles, the red-roofed resort of Alnmouth and the picturesque fishing village of Craster (with a reputation for the most delicious oak-smoked kippers in England!). Boat trips to the Farne Islands can be arranged nearby to visit the huge breeding colonies, wooded valleys and open areas of moorland, and Alnwick with its famous castle and gardens is within easy reach.
