• Oakham Castle(0 km)- Built in the 1180's this stone castle hall is all that remains of an ancient Norman castle. Inside can be seen Rutland's famous collection of horseshoes. 'Every peer of the realm passing through Rutland must forfeit a horseshoe'
• Burghley House(15 km)- Commissioned by William Cecil - the first Lord Burghley, this grand Elizabethan house has 18 state rooms complemented by porcelain, paintings and tapestries collected over the centuries.
• Rutland Water(2 km)- Rutland's large man-made lake lies at the heart of the county and is great for outdoor activities, watersports and wildlife. From biking and boating to butterflies and birdwatching there is lots to enjoy.
• Barnsdale Gardens(3 km)- Familiar to millions of BBC2 viewers as the home of Geoff Hamilton and of Gardeners World comprises of 37 individual smaller gardens and features that all blend together by linking borders into one 8 acre garden.

Hotel car park not accessible from front of hotel on Catmose Street. Please access from rear of hotel on South Street, our private drive way entrance is adjacent to the County Museum public car park. Direct rail link Stansted Airport - Oakham. East Midlands Airport 45 minute car drive. Nearest major train stations are Peterborough and Leicester and nearest coach station is in Leicester. Taxi numbers available direct from hotel.
