16th Century Grade 1 Listed Olde Coaching Inn, well placed in the historic market town of Sudbury. Traditional British food and hospitality in a very traditional English setting.

Built in 1540 by a wealthy merchant, used as his home, this building then became a brewing house for Mauldons, now Sudburys only existing Brewery. This Hotel features original Oak beams throughout the building and has two rooms with vaulted ceilings.

This is a beautiful room with vaulted beamed ceiling and secondary glazing.

This is a four-poster bedroom with a 2-person whirlpool bath, vaulted oak-beamed ceiling, all original oak beams on walls and a wall-mounted LCD TV. If you would like breakfast in bed, this can arranged for this room.

A large and spacious bright room with a double bed and a single bed. There are some original oak beams on the walls.

This small room has a cosy atmosphere.

This is a large ground floor room with both double and single beds, making it perfect for families or those with limited mobility. Views out onto the rear patio/ garden.

Annexe One ()

This spacious twin room has 2 single beds and is located in the old brewery part of the building. Entry to the room is via the courtyard. The room is double glazed.

This is a fair sized room with secondary double glazing.

This large room in the old brewery part of the hotel has recently been redecorated and consists of double and single beds with room for an extra bed/ cot. Entrance to this room is via our patio.

This is a large room with both a double bed and a single bed. The room is situated in the old merchants house and dates back to 1540 and has all original oak beamed walls.

Dinner Bed & Breakfast Special rate ()

Special rate when you book for 2 nights between Monday and Friday, for the months of August and September. Menu to feature the best of local summer produce. In October and November we will be offering a special game menu, featuring local game birds pheasant, pigeon and other seasonal foods such as hare paté and venison.

Coming from london or Chelmsford into Sudbury on the A131 you will drive over a small hump back bridge (ballingdon bridge). We are on the right hand side at the junction of Cross street and Church Street. From any other direction leave sudbury heading towards London/Chelmsford/Braintree and we will be on the left hand side of Cross street just before the Bridge.
