• Sutton Hoo(16 km)- The burial ground of the Anglo-Saxon pagan kings of East Anglia. One of the best archaeological discoveries in England. The Estate includes an Edwardian house, 103 hectares of grass-heath, as well as the burial grounds themselves.
• Tolly Cobbald brewery(5 km)- This splendid Victorian brewery, rebuilt in 1896, has become a major attraction. The guided tours provide a valuable insight into how beer is made. Before leaving, quench your thirst with a glass or two of Tolly Cobbold beer.
• Christchurch mansion(6 km)- A fine Tudor House built in 1548. Furnished as an English country house, it houses collections of furniture and ceramics. Best known for the most important collection of paintings by John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough outside London.
• Ipswich museum(6 km)- This Victorian building houses a wide range of displays including: Natural History Gallery, Bird Gallery, Suffolk Geology, Peoples of the world Ethnography Gallery, and Suffolk Archaeology Gallery, including a reconstruction of a Roman Villa.

Directions:

From London Gatwick/North/South/West: - Take the M23 north to the M25. - Head east to the Dartford crossing and then junction 28. - Take the A12 north-east to the A14. - Head east towards Felixstowe, over the Orwell Bridge. Take the first exit. From Stansted: - Take the A120 east joining the A12 (north), then the A14 (east). - After the Orwell Bridge, take next slip road signed Ransomes Europark. - Keep in the right-hand lane and the hotel is accessible via the second exit off the roundabout. - Drive down a short road to the next roundabout, where you can return up the other side. The hotel entrance is then on your left. From London/Heathrow: - Take the M25 (north). - Leave the motorway at junction 28 for the A12. - Leave the A12 at the junction for the A14. - Follow signs for Ransomes Europark. - Then, as above.
