Local Attractions:

• Père Lachaise Cemetery(2 km)- This has become the final resting place of French and foreign giants. Balzac, Delacroix, La Fontaine, Molière, and Proust are buried here, as are Chopin, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde.
• Musée national Picasso de Paris(4 km)- The Musée Picasso is situated in the heart of historic Paris, and has a collection of several thousand works of Pablo Picasso. Besides the personal collection of Picasso, the museum also has some works of Cézanne and Matisse.
• The Bastille Prison(4 km)- The Bastille's governor surrendered to the Revolutionaries and it got demolished the next day. Today, the July Column, at one corner of the pl. de la Bastille, commemorates the site where the prison once stood.
• Opéra Bastille(4 km)- The Opéra opened in 1989 to protests over its unattractive design. The immense auditorium seats 2703 people, but 95% of the building is taken up by exact replicas of the stage for rehearsals and workshops.
