Situated just a few miles from the ancient city of Chester and recently awarded the 5-star guest accommodation Silver Award, Higher Huxley is a comforting and convenient retreat.

Accommodation is in a non-smoking Elizabethan house situated in the tranquil countryside with warming log fires. Family-run with low beams, oak panelled doors and all the modern requirements of today, including Wi-Fi internet access. There is free off road parking. Local interests include the Roman walled city of Chester with its race course, Beeston Castle, Tatton Park, Oulton Park motor racing circuit, Ness Gardens, Chester Zoo, Chomondeley Castle, Cheshire Oaks, Lever and Walker Art Galleries. There are 7 golf courses within a 5 mile radius. Nearby are several well known walks including the Sandstone Trail and the Shropshire Union Canal. This historic manor house dates from the 13th century and is situated in a quiet green valley. Furnished mainly with antiques, but incorporating all the modern requirements of today. Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the garden and fields, from 07:30 to 09:00 Monday to Saturday and 08:00 to 09:30 Sundays.

There is no VAT to be added on to the total either. There is also plenty of free parking available for guests on site.

• Beeston Castle(2 km)- Beeston Castle. A very old Castle impressively situated on an outcrop of rock in the Cheshire Plain.Magnificent views available from the Castle top across to Liverpool.
• Chester(7 km)- A walled roman City,situated on the River Dee, still maintaining it's medieval rows (two tiers of shops). A fine Gothic Cathedral.It also has the oldest horse racing course in England. There is something special happening most weekends in Chester
• Chester Race Course(7 km)- The oldest horse racing course in England with tight left hand bends. situated off the roman walls
• Oulton Park(7 km)- Oulton Park Motor racing circuit. One can watch cars or motorbikes racing here and one can even have a go at racing one's self if you book in advance.

Directions:

Higher Huxley Hall is situated 7 miles south-east of Chester. Directions from the North: M6, then M56 and M53 carrying on to A55. Take the exit off A55 signposted to Chester, Whitchurch and A41, follow signs. Take 3rd left off roundabout. At first set of traffic lights turn left onto A41, heading for Whitchurch. At next roundabout take first left, continuing on A41, still heading for Whitchurch. Take 4th road left, signposted to Waverton and Huxley. Continue over crossroads through Waverton old village, past the church and alongside the canal. After crossing the canal bear right for 1.4 miles then turn right down named tarmac drive, opposite T junction where signs point to Huxley or the 7th House, on the right hand side after going over the canal bridge. Directions from South: Take M6, leave at junction 16 towards Nantwich on A500. Follow directions for Chester on A51. After passing through village of Tilstone Fearnall, turn left at traffic lights onto A49 towards Whitchurch. Then (after 3/4 mile) take first right to Huxley. Next take 2nd left (after 3 miles approximately) at Huxley Chapel down through the village, past the 'Farmers Arms' pub to T junction, turn left and immediate right down long tarmac drive. Opposite Red Lane sign. Road - Cheshire has good links to the national Motorway network and all parts of Britain. Rail - High-speed services run to Crewe and Chester from London's Euston and Paddington stations, and from Glasgow on the West Coast Main Line. Sea - Ferries from mainland Europe arrive at Newcastle and Hull, which is 3 hrs by road from Chester. Also, information for the Dublin to Holyhead ferry can be obtained by telephone. Air - Manchester Airport, served by 95 of the world's airlines and 175 UK and international routes, is 40 minutes from Chester by Motorway (M56, M53). Passenger flights also arrive at Liverpool Airport, 40 minutes by road to Chester.
