Dating back to 1540, Down Hall is situated in 100 acres of parkland, woodland and landscaped gardens. Just 14.5 km (9 miles) from Stansted Airport and within 35 minutes of London and Cambridge.

Approach the hotel and estate along a sweeping tree lined drive before reaching the magnificent entrance to the hotel. • Mountfitchet Castle(20 km)- Mountfitchet Castle and Norman Village of 1066 is the only motte and bailey castle in the world that has been faithfully reconstructed on it's original site. So travel back to Norman England and experience life as it was.
• Audley End House & Gardens(34 km)- Sir Thomas Audley was given Walden Abbey by Henry VIII, but today the house's interior is largely the result of the ownership of the 3rd Baron Braybrooke. Much has been done recently to restore the park and the fine Victorian gardens.
• Imperial War Museum: Duxford(44 km)- Duxford is Europe's premier aviation museum and also houses collections of tanks, military vehicles and naval exhibits. It began as an airfield in WW1 and also played a vital role in WW2, as an RAF fighter station and American fighter base.
• City of Cambridge(60 km)- a trip to this historic city would not be compelte without a visit to one of oldest and most prestigious colleges in Cambridge. Follow this with punting on the River Cam and experience one of the unique ways of seeing Cambridge and its colleges.

Directions:

By road from the north Exit Junction 8, m11. Take a1250 towards Bishops Stortford town center. Turn left at traffic lights to Hatfield Heath (a1060). Down Hall is approximately 6 miles on a1060 Chelmsford road. At Hatfield Heath keep left, turn right into lane opposite Hunters Meet Restaurant and left at the end following sign post. By road from the south exitJunction 7, M11 (London to Cambridge). Take A414 towards Harlow. At fourth roundabout,follow B183 towards Hatfield Heath. After approximately 5 miles road bears right - signposted Down Hall Conference Centre. BY RAIL From Londons Liverpool Street Station take the Cambridge or Bishops Stortford train to Bishops Stortford (approximately 45 minute journey, two trains every hour). Taxi to Down Hall (10 minutes). Underground connections at Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale Stations.
