Armathwaite Hall Hotel Bassenthwaite

Picture of in

This stunning 4-star luxury hotel has a magnificent setting in the secluded splendour of 400 acres of deer park and woodland, bordered by the natural beauty of Bassenthwaite Lake.

Framed by the dramatic scenery of Skiddaw mountain and the spectacular backdrop of the Lake District’s fells, the hotel is as romantic as the surrounding countryside. Privately owned by the resident Graves family, this 4-star country house hotel was one of England’s original stately homes and was described by the famous novelist Sir Hugh Walpole as “a house of perfect and irresistible charm.” Today, the hotel offers charming, elegant luxury accommodation, with a quality of life and traditional old world hospitality all too rare in the modern world. Most of the hotel’s 43 en suite rooms, from the garden wing to the unique Hartley Tower Suite with its private roof terrace, look out onto parkland, the immaculately kept grounds or the lake. The hotel’s superb facilities include an impressive conference centre, beautiful wood-panelled public rooms with real log fires, the high-quality Lake View Restaurant and a spa with a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. There are 4 conference rooms available, from the traditional design of the wood-panelled library for smaller meetings to the air conditioned John Peel Suite, offering theatre-style seating for up to 80 delegates and 2 adjacent syndicate rooms. All 4 conference rooms have broadband connectivity throughout, with fixed IP addresses for video conferencing and virtual private network access to your own offices. Wireless connectivity is also available throughout the conferencing suites. The surrounding area and the hotel itself offer a superb range of corporate and team building events. At the heart of Armathwaite Hall's philosophy is the comfort and well being of guests, and this is reflected in the wide range of excellent facilities for recreation and relaxation. Guests can use the hotel’s impressive spa free of charge. The spa offers a range of relaxing and therapeutic treatments and facilities, as well as all you need to keep fit, healthy and active. There is a heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room and a well-equipped gymnasium. The hotel also offers a holistic beauty salon with a team of qualified beauty therapists available for consultations and to advise on the treatments most suitable for you. The salon staff can also help devise a home care programme to help balance, maintain and maximise your skin’s potential. Treatments from the ESPA range are designed to naturally prepare, treat, hydrate and protect the skin, utilising aromatherapy, marine and plant active ingredients.
