Keswick Hotel Keswick

Picture of in

A warm welcome awaits you at this beautiful Lake District country house hotel. The Keswick Hotel is an elegant Victorian building standing proudly in 4 acres of tended gardens and walkways.

Despite its secluded setting, the hotel is just a short 10 minute stroll from the town centre. With 74 stylishly decorated bedrooms, comfortable lounges and sumptuous breakfasts and evening meals, The Keswick Hotel has something to offer all of our discerning guests. Please note: as of the 1st July 2007, new legislation to protect employees and the public from the harmful effects of second hand smoke come into effect. After careful consideration it has been decided to make the Keswick Hotel a non-smoking hotel. Smoking will therefore no longer be permitted in the bedrooms or public areas. A designated space will be set aside outside the premises to accommodate those guest who wish to smoke. We trust that our guests will help us to achieve our legal responsibilities to ensure our premises remain smoke free. Purpose built as a railway hotel in 1865, the Keswick Hotel opened its doors for the first time in 1869, swiftly gaining a reputation as the leading hotel of the Lake District. Many famous visitors have crossed its threshold over the years, the most memorable being Queen Elizabeth II in October 1956. Improved road links and the decline of local mining meant the railway ceased to function in 1972. However, the hotel purchased the old buildings and platform and continued to develop into the popular Lake District venue it is now. Whether a business traveller, mountain hiker, keen rambler or a lakes enthusiast, the Keswick Hotel is proud to welcome all. The comfortable lounge with open fire and well stocked bar is the ideal meeting place after a day spent exploring the delights Keswick has to offer. The Lonsdale Restaurant provides hearty Cumbrian breakfast and sumptuous 3-course table d'hôte evening dinner to tantalise your tastebuds using, wherever possible, locally sourced produce. Set in 4 acres of tended gardens and walkways, surrounded by the wonderful Lakeland fells, play a game of croquet or relax in the haven of tranquility on offer when you stay at The Keswick Country House Hotel.
