CANCELLATION POLICY: Reservations must be cancelled 1 day in advance of your arrival date. In the event of a no show or a cancellation in breach of this policy, the cost of the entire reservation will be charged. COMMENTS: Guaranteeing a reservation must be done by giving either a credit card number or sending a deposit by cheque. Cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellations within 48 hours of arrival will be charged for unless the room can be re-let. Different cancellation policies apply for Christmas/New Year, Air Fete and Racing Break reservations. No pets allowed except Guide Dogs. Special diets catered for. We will endeavour to accommodate any special requests, however under certain circumstances this may not be possible.

Newmarket Racing Break (minimum 2 nights) ()

Racing breaks at Newmarket: 2 nights for only 229 GBP per person (twin room) including dinner and breakfast both nights, morning guided tour, members badges, race card and full transportation on the day of racing (Saturday). The morning tour leaves the hotel at 06:40 on the Saturday and includes the services of an experienced Newmarket guide, watching horses at exercise on the Gallops, a tour of a trainers yard, tour of the town and entrance to the National Horseracing Museum, returning to the hotel at approximately 11:30. Full transportation is included throughout. Suitably warm clothing and sturdy footwear is highly recommended for the morning and smart/ casual attire for the racing in the afternoon. 2007 Arrival Dates (Fridays): May: 4th, 18th, 25th. Local Attractions:

• Ely(22 km)- Dominated by its spectacular Cathedral, Ely was once an island surrounded by marshes and has narrow streets lined with historic buildings such as Oliver Cromwell's former residence.
• Newmarket(25 km)- With 2 racecourses, The National Stud and The National Horseracing Museum and numerous training stables, a visit to Newmarket is a 'must'. Guided tours of the town are available on request along with tickets for an exciting afternoon at the races!
• Lavenham(38 km)- The wealth generated in this former major wool making centre has left a legacy of timber framed houses set along narrow streets and lanes. Visit the numerous craft, gift and tea shops and the magnificent 13th century church with its 141 feet high tower.
• Cambridge(45 km)- Noted for its historic colleges with their lovely courtyards and bridges, Cambridge has so much to offer of which the crowning glory is King's College Chapel. Punt on the River Cam or explore medieval churches, parks, bookshops and museums.

The Smoke House is situated on the main a1101 in Beck Row, five kilometres from the market town of Mildenhall. For a detailed map please telephone us and we can provide you with an internet address that this can be downloaded from. Directions by car: From London and the South: M25 to M11 junction - follow M11 to J9/A11 signposted Norwich/Newmarket. Road merges with A14. Carry on for 2-3 miles and take A11 exit signposted Thetford/Norwich/Mildenhall. Follow for approximately 6 miles until you come to a large roundabout. Take 1st exit to Mildenhall. Follow the road - at the 1st mini roundabout go straight over. At the 2nd mini roundabout turn right (A1101). At the 3rd mini roundabout go straight over. At the next roundabout turn left, follow the road for 2 miles through the village of Beck Row. The Smoke House entrance can be found 50 yards on the right hand side - after the next mini roundabout. From the North and Midlands: M1, A1 or M6 to the A14 junction. Follow A14 past Huntingdon, Cambridge and Newmarket. Carry on for 2-3 miles and take A11 exit signposted Thetford/Norwich/Mildenhall. Follow for approximately 6 miles until you come to a large roundabout. Take 1st exit to Mildenhall. Follow the road - at the 1st mini roundabout go straight over.
